Johnny is the kindest humblest and most positive human being! Extremely underrated.. His voice has magnificent power. And still got it at almost 60 yo!! I will never forget the day He gave me a chance to interview him in hotel room… Thank you Johnny, for the moment, for the music. You are the best! You are my hero, still.

Love this story- That’s exactly how I ended up on drums in my high school band when I was 14

I feel like I’m the youngest Hardline fan ever. All of the fans have been listening ever since the 90’s and here I am, 15 years old and Hardline is my favorite band OF ALL TIME. Falling Free and the whole Leaving the End Open album has been my favorite music for the past year, as well as all of the other albums. Hearing that there might be a new album next year makes me so excited. Hardline’s music has been inspiring me to try and make my own music.

I was lucky enough to see Hardline with Neal support Extreme here in the UK back in 92 I think? That gig made such a big impact on me…thanks to Johnny! Double Eclipse is such a great album. The song Cant Find My Way has always been a soundtrack to my life! Great interview 🙂

I'm a little younger I'm 38 but the first song I ever heard Johnny on was live and learn. He wasn't the only 80s early 90s hard Rock vocalist on those sonic games. Ted Poley, Paul Shortino, and Tony Harnell also did vocals for songs for those early 2000s sonic games. Jun Senoue the guitarist not only had great taste in vocalists but probably got a good amount of millennials and older gen zs into 80s style vocals that way. At least it did for me but I didn't start taking music seriously until I was 15 in 2002.

Does any band have a good story about signing to MCA?

Great interview. I met Johnny in the uk a few years back and he was such a lovely guy. I had my Hardline Double Eclipse tour shirt on and Johnny joked that they’re so rare even he doesn’t have one 😁

I personally think Johnny sounds better now than he did on double eclipse and oceans of time.

Double Eclipse is classic. Arguably the best song on the album, Love Leads the Way, was only a bonus track on the Japanese release.

Great interview! I especially loved the Brunette talk. I’d forgotten all about them, been listening to those demos a lot the last few days. Damn, how did this band not get signed. If you’d put them with a top notch producer back then, these guys would have been killer.

Great to see this interview. Johnny is a kick ass singer who deserves a lot of recognition. His vocals on the Hardline and Axel Rudi Pell albums kick ass.
