This podcast has helped me understand why Conan is the way he is towards Bley but just like Conan has never stopped working with Bley Iโ€™m not gonna stop watching this either lolol

Very underwhelming movie and my expectations were already pretty low going into it. Nolan spent far too much time on boring dialogue, with lines that are delivered in a very awkward way, instead of the actual journey itself. It's almost as if he wanted to rush past all the exciting parts for an obscene amount of bland exposition and flat emotionless conversation. The odd casting decisions did not do the film any favors either. I didn't go into this movie thinking I was going to hate it but honestly the more I think about the film the more problems I have with it. Anyone who says this is Nolan's greatest film is either delusional or trying to push a political narrative due to the backlash the film received before release.

My personal Nolan ranking (only movie I have yet to see is Insomnia) –

    1. Oppenheimer (I'm just a huge nerd about this movie and I love Cillian Murphy and I don't think anything will ever de-throne it from its number one spot EVEN THOUGH BLEY SAID AFTER THE BOMB IT'S JUST "A BUNCH OF PEOPLE TALKING"๐Ÿ˜ก)

    2. The Odyssey (also a huge nerd about this movie, performances and visuals were stunning, I've already seen it 4 times)

    3. Interstellar (beautiful, haunting, a movie that has really just stuck with me that I think about constantly – I REALLY wish I had seen it in theaters)

    4. The Dark Knight (first time I ever saw a movie based on what people on the internet were saying – hadn't even watched Batman Begins, it was the first Nolan movie I ever saw, etc etc etc just an iconic and important movie for me personally in addition to being a great film)

    5. Memento (blew me away when I first watched it, love when movies mess with the timeline)

    6. The Dark Knight Rises (Bane is just the best tbh)

    7. Inception (I honestly need to give this one a re-watch, feel like it might move up in my rankings since I haven't watched it in like 5 years)

    8. The Prestige (I wish I could go back and watch this WITHOUT knowing the twist at the end, but because I went into it knowing the ending, it just wasn't as fun for me – although just the fact that Bowie is in this is amazing)

    9. Batman Begins (just not my favorite, but still great – again, CILLIAN MURPHY I LOVE YOU)

    10. Tenet (a little confusing, felt like AI took Memento and Inception and mashed them together – still fun though and the soundtrack SLAPS)

    11. Dunkirk (dragged on too long for me, but the visuals were beautiful – I think this was the second Nolan movie I saw in theaters but I literally only saw it because Harry Styles was in it lmao)

I haven't actually seen all of his films tbh. I think my top 3 would be 1 TDK, 2 Inception, 3 Interstellar.

I really disliked and was disappointed in Tenet, I think it has some of Nolan's worst examples of some things. I wasn't blown away by Dunkirk and find it pretty forgettable, kinda just blends in with all the other war films. I didn't love Oppenheimer. Ending on a positive, I think Batman Begins is a really neat Batman origins film, it's just mostly overshadowed by TDK. TDKR has a lot of good qualities too, but it has some odd writing and a few aspects which drag it down. Still a super solid trilogy though.

John Leguizamo for Best Supporting Actor!!!
I already predicted RDJ award for Oppenheimer and Sean Penn for OBAA, tryna go 3 for 3 ๐Ÿ˜‚
And since everyone else is ranking them:
    Interstellar 9.7
    Oppenheimer 9.5
    The Odyssey 9.4
    The Dark Knight 9.x
    Inception 9.x
    The Prestige 9.x
Tenet 9.x, Memento, Dunkirk, Batmans, Insomnia, Following…

I don't even know why I'm trying to score everything, it's all good ๐Ÿ˜‚

Do people not get what interpretation isโ€ฆ and also the whole this is the version made to be shown to people that arenโ€™t the people speaking in old Greek text and such or so on? Or the fact that itโ€™s not a documentary and itโ€™s also not a true story that needed to be for some reason played โ€œhistorically accurate โ€œ???

First thing I hear is someone saying a big twist or surprise canโ€™t be that he was cloning lol thatโ€™s the worst reason to act like thatโ€™s not a good movie

Thank you for defending The Prestige from Andrewโ€™s horrendous take. Itโ€™s my number one Nolan movie too. Remember being immersed in the theatre from start to finish. Ricky Jay was also great in the film.

My top 3 Nolan films are: 3) Interstellar, 2) Inception, and 1) The Dark Knight. I haven't seen Memento or Prestige yet, but maybe I need to very soon. And the reason for my top 3 are for the story in each film are great and I love the soundtrack of each of these films! Very emotional and moving music!

Having watched a couple episodes, Iโ€™ve learned that Eduardo and I have incredibly similar tastes in things. And I thought I couldnโ€™t love that man more than I already doโ€ฆ..

I love Bley, but Conan correctly assessed him as a goddam idiot, and hopefully will loan out some lawyers to keep his mother out of prison for the tax fraud sheโ€™s done in his behalf

300 was great, this felt like American Godzilla all over again. I actually liked Godzilla 2000, NO Diddy! But did I just see dreadlocks?! Lol in 1190ish bce Bronze age?! LoL ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Plus I think a lot of people that has read The Odyssey and non Americans disagree, at least from other reviews I've read. Again, the movie is entertaining and will fill your afternoon but Greeks and scholars are like "WTF?!" You can Google "Scholar" for definition if needed. ๐Ÿ˜Š

The Prestige is amazing because Nolan manages to blend 3 different genres seamlessly in it. From period drama to mystery thriller to steampunk sci-fi. Nolan is one of the last good guys left in hollywood indeed

The guy at the beginning is missing the point. The point of the cloning in the prestige is that there is a difference between magic and science and that far reaching science seems like magic. That is why the Michael Caine calls Tesla a wizard and not a magician. Magician use slight of hand. Wizards use science that blows peoples minds.

    HughJackman and Bale are Magicians.

    Tesla a wizard
