Is the Bon Jovi Movie a Huge Mistake?
The upcoming Bon Jovi biopic has officially been announced, but will it actually work? In this video I break down what could make the Bon Jovi movie great… and what could cause it to fall flat. I also look at other music biopics like Bohemian Rhapsody, The Dirt, and Hysteria: The Def Leppard Story to see what makes these films succeed—or fail. In the end, I’m hoping the Bon Jovi movie turns out to be amazing…
What do you think? Will the Bon Jovi movie be a hit, or a mistake? Let me know in the comments.

I was an extra in a couple scenes of The Dirt. I’m a huge Crüe fan and I just wanted to be apart of the movie for that alone. After I was done filming my scenes, part of me was like “I hope this movie doesn’t suck”. The vibes were good and it seemed like a good movie because Jeff Tremaine was directing.
After it came out, I was bummed they rushed to the end of the movie skipping a lot of the Crüe stuff, lineup changes etc. they vaguely touched on the ‘94 album. Wish they would have really got more detailed on Swine, Crüe Fest, Carnival and the “final” tour. I think all that is important to develop their story. But that’s the fan in me wanting that.

For JBJ, the band is literally a business because he's the owner/manager while Richie, Tico, Alec and David were listed as employees. JBJ likes to act all high and mighty but if your band mates are your employees, no wonder that Richie at some stage said "listen, mate, I keep writing successful hits with you but I'm not getting paid equally," then I'd run out at some stage as well. Wonder how that'll be depicted in that Hollywood biopic that's planned for next year.

You mean a 2 hour commercial Hairspray commercial.
Maybe Hollywood should finish their Country Biopics. We definitely need one on Waylon Jennings and 1 on Jerry Reed (not including several others).
As far as Hollyweird making a Rock Biopic, maybe if they hired the crew who did Motley Crue – The Dirt.

Although a great band, they haven't done anything interesting enough to fill a movie. It'll be as boring as the Springsteen one. Ithink the Kiss and Scorpions ones will be fantastic. The Scorps one has everything to do with the change in Europe from post WW2 to the fall of the Berlin Wall. Jon's can't touch that.

If this movie sees the light of day, it's definitely going to be controlled by Jon. And… unlike The Dirt, (where the crazier the band was portrayed the better for their image), Jon is not going to want this movie to portray him in a bad light.
My guess is that it will touch on most of the drama that his band members and him went through, but there's no way he's going to allow the movie to tarnish his image in any way. There's no motivation for him to come out of a movie looking worse than before the movie was released.
What would really be interesting is an unauthorized documentary the Jon has no involvement with. At least we will get closer to the truth that way. Just sayin'

I was a huge Bon Jovi "fan"" ( I dont like the word ), still love their music, and I still love listening to them. But whatever happened ( including Sambora leaving, my favorite player ) lately, it just makes me sad. The moment I saw that docu of him saying he was the CEO of the band, I dunno, when something becomes a company……I just have great memories…..their concerts in the 80s were the best I seen in my life up until today !!!

Im nervous. I want everyone in the classic original lineup to be respectfully represented in the film. I don't want the film to stop at Slippery. A good end point would be the band getting back together for Keep The Faith and seeing a little bit of the bands second peak. I would like to See scenes of Jon and Richie in the middle of their solo debuts. I atleast want to see New Jersey get a good amount of coverage.
