Iron Maiden just played the BEST concert I’ve seen them do

Metal Pilgrim | July 9, 2026

Iron Maiden just played one of the last gigs of their European leg of the Run For Your Lives Tour. And despite having a chance to see quite a lot of Iron Maiden shows throughout their career, I’m still shocked by what happened that night.

Now, for those who are new to this channel, I have to point out that, yeah, I did have a chance to witness quite a bunch of Iron Maiden shows throughout their career, including several on the Run For Your Lives Tour last year and this year. And of course, throughout the years, I also had a chance to see some of the shows when they were just kicking off their new tours, so they were kinda getting used to the setlist. And despite it being a lot of fun, well, let’s be honest here, shows weren’t exactly flawless. And at the same time, some amazing gigs, like for example, Iron Maiden’s iconic first appearance in Costa Rica back in 2008 on their Somewhere Back in Time Tour, which by the way, for the record, is still the craziest Iron Maiden gig I’ve ever been to.

And I’m saying this just to point out that what I’m about to say is something that I’m not taking lightly, and I actually deliberately did not release this video right after the concert because I wanted to sleep on it and really understand how I feel about it. But I actually think that Iron Maiden’s concert in Cartagena, Spain at Rock Imperium this year was possibly one of the best, if not the best Iron Maiden concert I’ve ever been to.

I think Simon is doing great, and his consistency back there is helping everyone else too.

I timed Bruce's note at 28 seconds. Legend. Can't wait to see them on the US leg.

Any Iron Maiden concert is the best concert of the year, but nothing will surpass the Somewhere Back in Time show.
And the people talking about the band retiring, never saw one show of this tour, the boys are better than ever`

Also, anyone staying in the shelves should not talking about the shows… You are either in the pit, or you are not there
You had the DVD experience, not the concert experience

@MetalPilgrim you were in the Costa Rica's concert in 2008!? that was my first concert ever and it was incredible! I have seen them 3 times and the way that powerslave sounded that night was out of this world, I guess that's why they recorded that song for the flight 666 dvd, cheers from Costa Rica!

I first saw them in Wembley arena in 1986 and many times since, Donington UK 1988, 1992, but this was on another level, vocally, solo´s, drumming… Maiden family forever ❤

I went to Paris….it was shaping up to be the greatest show ive even seen of them…but we all know what happened. Ive seen them like 30 times over the last 25 years.
I saw Metallica couple weeks ago too, and tbh Maiden are head and shoulders above them in nearly every way.

Saw them in Antwerp, Belgium, best gig I've been at! My millennial knees can't fathom their energy! The first gig I was on was in 2008 at Poljud, Split…It was amazing. 18 years later they're…even better???!!! Live is Live organization was top notch! They took such good care of everything, especially taking the heatwave in consideration.

Do they play all songs under-tempo now? I can see why they'd need it for e.g. Rue Morgue (02:10 in this video), but why Fear of the Dark? Neither the riffs nor the vocals are particularly fast on that one.

Have to agree. I have seen Maiden every time they have come to Australia since 1984. I was fortunate enough to see them in Oslo, Norway at the end of June 2026, and I also think that it is one of the best Maiden concerts I have ever seen. Looking forward to seeing them again in November back in Oz.

How the hell does Bruce hold that last note at the end of Alexander the Great??!! He’s 67 and a mouth cancer survivor. No one else can do that at half his age and health. Can’t wait to see them in Sept in NJ! Up the irons!

Well, Bruce has proved many times the fact that you can keep and improve an amazing voice or establish other ambitions goals even though you get “older”. If you have a more sober approach to the rock n roll life 😉 He is more vocally talented and safer behind several wheels than a dude who used to look like a lady 😉
