INSOMNIAC’S SPIDER-MAN 2 – It’s Good, but… I’m Still Disappointed

Elvis The Alien | October 24, 2024

this goes without saying, but this is just my opinion. If you loved this game then I get it and don’t think you’re wrong whatsoever

There's literally a video of Brian Intihar saying they knew they weren't going to reach the level of quality they wanted–not to mention his unapologetic defense of the Mary Jane missions when that could've been more time and money spent on game development elsewhere in this SPIDER-MAN GAME

I want to play a spiderman game, not a spiderman and miles game… and they brought BACK the MJ stealth sections?? Seriously??? Wtf??
Im tired of them making the entire story revolve around one side villain from the comics.

I feel like you misunderstood the line that Spider-Man can wait. Peter is not waiting for anything in this context, Miles as Spidey. in short, when he says Spider-Man can wait, Miles can't, he means being a super hero can wait, but dealing with his personal life can't. The same way Peter talks about Spider-Man to himself as if Spidey was a different person, like in Spectacular Spider-Man episode 2 where Peter thinks to himself "Spidey stays because he's needed". He's trying to teach Miles not to slack off on his private life the way Peter did when he was a teenager. It's not that Peter doesn't think of him as a Spider-Man

The game was WAY too short, I wish they made it SOOOO MUCH BIGGER, I loved Spider-Man 1 and the Miles game (Miles’ final suit sucked) but this one was so short, And the suit roster was really bad, Peters was ok but Miles got such a bad selection

It was way easier to put everything into a single game back in the 90s because game development was 1000x easier and Marvel was desperate for cash and recognition. Now, triple A games take 4+ years to be made and Marvel has licensed all of their characters to all sorts of companies.

I hate the MJ missions but her being OP is great because it makes her missions way more fun and far shorter than the stealth missions.

Also, everyone knew Pete was being changed by the symbiote, Harry just didn't care because he was dying and Peter showed zero sympathy and he was the only one that could save him.

The fact MJ can 1 strike enemies, while spiderman can drop a lid at thug's skull and still have have to do like 3-4 strikes combo is absolutely ridicilous.

Honestly, it's so absurd that I don't think I will ever get back to this game.

I love Insomniac and what they did with their Spider-Man universe but Spider-Man 2 could've been better as far as the story. It was very predictable and too short. It was definitely rushed towards the end. Without doing any side missions, almost anybody can beat the story in a day. Two days at most. I was very surprised how short the story was. Insomniac said the story was the same length as the first game but that's not true at all. The first one was definitely longer and had more depth to it. I'm not a game developer so I'm trying my best to be patient and let them cook. I feel like the fans only want more and are pressuring Insomniac because Spider-Man 2 wasn't all that great as we fans expected it to be. And with the story being sooooooo short, I understand why fans are inpatient and eagerly want more content.

I liked the gameplay for the most part, hated they took away the gadgets, hated the story, it is truly awful, badly written, and nerfs the hell out of peter constantly (really? A fridge? Come on…) graphically it looks great, some of the missions were dull and boring. The parry Mechanic worked half the time and should've been left out. The timing wasn't consistent at all. The first Spider-Man game and miles game were infinitly better.

Game play is absolutely fun, except for the Mary Jane missions. It’s just the story that’s trash. I always say I prefer good gameplay with a bad story over bad gameplay with good story, but Spider-Man 2 made me seriously question that.

Why do you think they made miles do more abilities swinging… I always like your videos but you picking miles for doing more then call the enemies oblivious you might be room temp IQ. Miles is better now because of the “agenda” way to pretend not to know that so you don’t get called out or actually be that dumb 🤔

I agree about the name venom. But venom is part of a hive mind that spans across multiverses, and has the memories of previous venom fights and comics. Like in “Let there be Carnage” venom already knew Tom Hollands Spider-Man despite that Peter never coming across him. Maybe he just knew his name already, but that’s my head canon.
