How to FIND Fulfillment and Discover Your TRUE Self Again | Tom Bilyeu

Tom Bilyeu | March 12, 2026

Are you feeling you are lacking motivation or are unsure how to achieve your goals? Then head on over to Unstuck.ImpactTheory.com. There you can register and get access to a free workshop.

So you already know that success doesn’t necessarily mean living a fulfilling life. Many people reach levels of success without having deep meaning behind their drive or desire to succeed. Often they arrive feeling unfulfilled and unable to bridge the gap they’ve created. Tom explains why fulfillment may be the most important factor and is almost always the solution to finding your way out of difficult situations. When you imagine living a life of fulfillment perhaps you think of gratitude, being humble and compassionate. When Tom breaks down his formula for fulfillment you’ll see that it’s hinged on hard work, developing skills, and being of service to others and not just yourself. The path to fulfillment may involve meditation but it’s also gritty work for hardcore people that want more than successful titles and accolades.

SHOW NOTES:

0:00 | Introduction to Fulfillment
0:30 | Tom’s Fulfillment Formula
6:12 | Surviving Chaos
9:27 | Delayed Gratification
13:20 | Fulfillment Over Achievement
16:11 | Recognize Your Fulfillment

QUOTES:

“If you’re not contributing to the group, you will have this sense of meaninglessness, and this is where meaning and purpose come in. […] it is ingrained in your mind to do that.” [4:34]

“Don’t tell yourself a negative story. Don’t allow yourself to loop and defeat, find people that can elevate you, find people that will, in a very real skills based way, help you see the path forward.” [9:06]

“Fulfillment is much longer in duration, it’s much more resilient, I can be fulfilled, even when things are hard, even when things aren’t going my way, even when it’s difficult.” [12:42]

Very powerful. Thank you! What if you have a clear vision, take action and keep working towards your goal, but have very little result. You eventually loose faith that your dream is possible and think that maybe you are going the wrong direction. How to determine that? Just keep going or choose a different path? I just lost my way..

From age 15 to the present day, I have held over 40 jobs. I have excelled at nearly everyone. My toddler mentality observed every piece of data, I read whatever books there were at the business, on the business. Because I lived in a silent state, I was always in an observant state, soaking in every activity in the business. Months down the road, the fulfillment that came on its own accord was no longer happening. I had reached the ceiling and no one knew what to do with me. We are highly advanced creatures, we are suppose to stay on a course that insures that we continue to grow, "in all directions" There literally isn't anything you can do, any business you can't start and grow. For example, through the 80s to the present day. I have shown too many businesses what to do to grow. When you have a business that serves a purpose for a customer and the economy is failing. How well your business does, depends on what you are doing, not the economy.

20:40 To be more easily fulfilled, work on growing your tolerance. The higher your tolerance is, the less frustrations you will experience. For example, you wake up for breakfast and an impulse has you heading for the kitchen to find out that the impulse, intention isn't going to be fulfilled, bummer right! But when your tolerance is high, you make adjustments and bam, intention is carried out. Fulfillment happens. And you get in with the day, able to handle every situation that isn't going right in the same manner. Now, you likely grew up with a part of your mentality developing around failures and successes, like a report card and learning the ropes of what it takes to win and lose. We have to let all that go in order to build a strong healthy tolerance to the ups and downs we experience. Remember every experience/situation/moment came about by a creation(s) that took place in the past, seconds, minutes, hours, days, months, years. Tolerance allows you to continue moving forward when others have given up. There is so much more to who you are than you have very noticed about yourself or anyone else.

19:00 The life we are all living is a creation. It's is not set in stone. Explore your creativity at all times, from the moment you wake up to the moment you fall asleep. Let your curiosity show you the way. Yes, you are going to be an irritation to people. Most do not like change. And it is change that has to take place in order for growth to take place. Let people get upset, shows they can't control their emotions. Eventually, they will come to know who you are.

Fulfillment can happen two ways, intentional fulfillent-know what is to come and not knowing what is to come. When I was 10 or 11, my mentality being like that of a toddler. My curiosity pulled me to this huge machine, a combine used to harvest cotton. Curiosity took me all around the machine, fascinated by it. Then I came to a way to climb up into the machine. I sit down, looking around I saw a button, I pushed it. It started, and then it died a few seconds later. As I walked away from the machine an awesome sensation ran throughout my body. I turned to look at the machine. Without the use of words, that sensation told me I liked that experience. It would be over 30 years before I would recall that experience. "Experience it, then let it go as though it never happen, a sensation will come on its own or it will not, just let it go"

8:55 When it's seriously hot outside. Do you notice and you have to make a comment about it? The same is for when it's cold. How often do you complain about something or someone? Let it go. We are designed to be able to tolerate any situation and anyone.

8:15 Take action, see it through to the end. By not letting the mind wander off, (number 4 circuit in the brain, also a state of active meditation) your subconscious went uninterrupted and recorded the entire content of that experience.

5:40 Be very careful not to let success, a.recognition and b.attention go to your head. Because the ego has to be fed, and the success isn't always going to be there, a and b. And you may find yourself pushing and pulling to make something happen.
