How to catch a Dwarf Planet — Triton MM#3

Kurzgesagt – In a Nutshell | November 9, 2025

If Neptune didn’t catch Triton we might have another Dwarf Planet in our Solar system — maybe even another Planet or double system. We show how this could have happened.

Ok, Moon May is over. Did you like it? Should we do something like this again? With other topics? More moons? More infographic stuff? Please tell us in the comments! 🙂

(Did you really think there’d be no Tardis? We are just making it harder.) (Just realized it might look terrible on some screens — sorry. We obviously didn’t think this through).

This is also the same for mars and phobos,

Phobos: captured from asteroid belt, falling into mars each second in really small measurements, temporary rings that are just useless (lasts for 2m years or a few)

    And yeah thats it 😒

First getting your friend ejected, second being rammed into other moons and killing them, third being captured with 15 smaller moons and now being slowed down by your own planet to possibly become a seventh ring? (Neptune has six rings as of now)
Geez I feel bad for Triton, just let Triton be catapulted into the Kuiper Belt

Neptune’s major moons are Triton and Proteus. Triton is the largest of all of Neptune’s moons. Proteus is Neptune’s second-largest moon, but, Proteus has a deformed cratered system, and its surface is not spherical. Triton is larger than the dwarf planet Pluto. Let me explain facts about different dwarf planets………

2015 TG 387 – 2015 TG 387 is an extremely mysterious trans-Neptunian dwarf planet beyond Pluto, and the Kuiper Belt. 2015 TG 387 was nicknamed “the goblin” because of its discovery near Halloween in 2015, and its name has TG in it. “The goblin” dwarf planet takes 30,000-40,000 to complete just one orbit around the sun. “The goblin” dwarf planet is 300 kilometers in diameter. “The goblin” dwarf planet is 1/6 the diameter of Pluto. “The goblin” dwarf planet is smaller than Saturn’s moons Enceladus, and Mimas. “The goblin” dwarf planet is smaller than Uranus’s smallest moon Miranda. “The goblin” dwarf planet is smaller than Neptune’s second-largest moon Proteus. “The goblin” dwarf planet was named Leleākūhonua. “The goblin” dwarf planet does not have any known moons.
