How the Netherlands simulated the sea
“Build some models” seems obvious: but this is a story of ingenuity, of using natural resources well, and of a country that humans dragged from the sea.

revisiting this 6 years later and this guy's accent but good understanding and vocabulary has convinced me to abandon my otherwise great English accent and embrace my Dutch accent on purpose just to stick it to the US cultural hegemony, symbolically 😂

As a Dutch person, his accent is so Dutch that even I am having a hard time understanding that guy.

I just re-watched this video, I LOVE your short 3-9 minute quick exploration of fascinating topics, unknown intrigues of the world.
I would so much love for 20-30 minute deep dives into all of these topics.
Even if they come back 5-10 years later.
Much longer Long Form content is a great deal more popular now.
I wolf 100% watch you go back on all of these old videos and really break it down, on your own and or in collaboration with other great creators that specialize in these fields.
Anyway… Keep up the great work!!

Swear to God when I read the title I thought it said "Neanderthals" instead of "Netherlands" and I was so much more excited

When they do it it’s “being brave and reclaiming lost land” but when I do it it’s apparently “destroying a national park”
Double standards

How considerate of Tom to stay in the Netherlands for 2 weeks so he would have 1 day of nice weather to film in

I lived in Holland & when we walked to the beach it was uphill & subconsciously it was weird. Stand on top of the dyke & on 1 side is the sea & on the other much lower is the land & appears like an optical illusion.
