That's why some songs just start off with the hook and why a lot of songs are compressed in a way so that the song always loud so it grabs your attention.

One interesting effect of this system I've noticed is on the They Might Be Giants song "Fingertips". It's basically a song of songs, packing 21 short songs into the ~5 minutes of the track's runtime. Now, on the original release of the album, due to shuffle being the hot new feature of the time, all 21 songs were separate tracks. It was also that way on Apple Music originally, but somewhat recently it was changed to only have the combined version, and I bet this monetization stuff is why (since I assume Apple Music doesn't want to be paying 21x the normal rate)

I felt this way with Goldlink's Crew. I prefer the remix with Gucci Mane just because I get an additional chorus from Brent Faiyaz.
