    History professor here. The fact that people are still making movies on the epic poem from 2700 years ago, shows how remarkable a work it is. . If anyone wants some background as to the story of the Odyssey and the history of the real war that the poem is based on, I have a lecture that covers it. The Odyssey Explained (Before You Watch the Movie…or Even If You Never Do!) I do wonder if there has been anything written in the last 150 years that people will still be reading 2500 years from now
