I'm part of that 51%. No tribal ties, generationally cut off through the evolution of assimilation.
My physical attributes strongly reflect the Indigenous people of this land.
So, where do I fit in?
I can tell you, from personal experience, I still receive the suspicios side eye because of my color. So for those stuck between two very different cuktures and longing for belonging. What about us?

Great video! Thank you ladies for your hard work and dedication to publicly speak against this pretendianism and fix issues to make things valid, legitimate and honest when it comes to applications and verifications. Lets keep these discussions going and shut down these pretendians in Canada and U.S. ✊🏼🪶

I'm glad California changed the applications to force applicants to provide aTribal ID number because this is why we Natives have IDs. I wish every state did this style of application for Indigenous people. I think all tribes need to start working with public institutions and workforce to force applicants to provide Tribal Enrollment Number if they claim to be Indigenous Natives. I read some comments of some non-Indigenous people who said they were applying for drivers license, jobs, college and they check American Indian/Alaskan Native. These loopholes need to be closed.
