Hikers’ Final Photos Before Unsolved Death | Last Moments
The bodies on the frozen slopes are spread out in disarray, but what caused the panic? Some succumbed to the cold, but others have inexplicable injuries…
“The Dyatlov Pass incident (Russian: Гибель тургруппы Дятлова) was an event in which nine Russian hikers died in the northern Ural Mountains between 1 and 2 February 1959, in uncertain circumstances. The experienced trekking group, who were all from the Ural Polytechnical Institute, had established a camp on the slopes of Kholat Syakhl, in an area now named in honour of the group’s leader, Igor Dyatlov. During the night, something caused them to tear their way out of their tents and flee the campsite while inadequately dressed for the heavy snowfall and subzero temperatures.
After the group’s bodies were discovered, an investigation by Soviet authorities determined that six had died from hypothermia while the other three showed signs of physical trauma. One victim had a fractured skull; two others had major chest fractures, one body was missing both its eyes, and one was missing a tongue. The investigation concluded that a “compelling natural force” had caused the deaths. Numerous theories have been put forward to account for the unexplained deaths, including animal attacks, hypothermia, avalanche, katabatic winds, infrasound-induced panic, military involvement, or some combination of these.
Russia opened a new investigation into the incident in 2019, and its conclusions were presented in July 2020: that the cause of death was hypothermia due to a combination of an avalanche, forcing the group to leave their camp, combined with low visibility. Andrey Kuryakov, deputy head of the regional prosecutor’s office, said: “It was a heroic struggle. There was no panic. But they had no chance to save themselves under the circumstances.””

LMAO, I remember watching a video about Dyatlov pass incident that the guy who left is actually the killer and ate all of them. I couldn't remember what channel it was.

It was an avalanche. They used snow models (the ones Disney used in frozen) to analyze the surrounding terrain and found that it just barely made met the requirements for an avalanche

I like how there were zero indications of anyone other than the hikers being present around their deaths and the authorities still immediately blamed the local tribe for it.

This isn't a mystery. We know what happened to the hikers. Great research.

It's a damn avalanche they even knew the area was dangerous likely and still set up there, and anyone with experience will tell you that having your knife ready at a millisecond to cut yourself out of a tent during an avalanche suddenly is life or death

Avalanche, followed by hypothermia.
Radiation from camp lantern.
Fractured skulls, missing eyes and tongue, and broken bones due to avalanche and scavengers.
Case closed.

I've heard some other details about this from other channels. They hikers apparently ran from their tent down a hill barefoot then came together and walked into the woods. One guy had hand injuries consistent with fist fighting and another chewed his knuckle skin off probably because of the cold. Also apparently the hikers and other people in the area had noticed scorch marks on the tops of trees in the area and i think this pairs nicely with the sightings of lights in the sky seen by locals and the group. Also people are saying the winds coming down the hill were much colder and could induce panic which is why they left their tent. I find it hard to believe that experienced hikers would feel strong cold winds and think it's best to not only cut a hole in their tent for a quick escape rather than opening the door but also to leave their shelter barefooted with no clothes and run into the night in an attempt to survive supposed cold winds. Surely it makes more sense to stay in your tent. Also all 9 of the people supposedly could've been affected by these panic inducing low frequency inaudible vibrations however myth busters looked at similar low frequency sounds when testing another story and found that these noises don't necessarily affect everyone. From what i remember the effects were minor and only affected a small number of people present and they were using concert speakers for this test to provide an extremely powerful sound. Also if some members in the tent said "we need to leave now" right when the winds are strong and cold would the other 6 or 7 really say "yes cut open the tent" and then all run out into the night thinking they'd be safer. I think at least a good few people would think its a bad plan and not want to follow. I think the people in the ravine went a different direction to the people in the forest too and one woman went on her own. From what i remember the woman who went alone suffered more severe injuries than those who were supposedly crushed by snow despite the fact that she was found on the ground.

Also, even today, many camping lanterns contain thorium, which is a radioactive material.

There is an interesting article from RIA called sacral nine about the incident. The group was following a Mansi trail, and they had written in their diaries about following said trail. After reading the article I believe the Mansi Tribe killed them.

I can’t explain it but this incident has always disturbed me beyond all reason. Like honest to god but for some reason it just makes me want to throw up, whole thing just gives me such a godawful feeling so it does, and that whatever happened is just so far beyond any explanation offered is just so deeply unsettling. I have had the thought on more than one occasion that if there’s an afterlife and it’s good, there’ll be a library some place where you can look up the answers to all these horribly weird mysteries, and most specifically this one. Like, if there’s a God, he’d bleedin well better explain this shite.

The late editor-in-chief of the ''Komsomolskaya Pravda'' newspaper (he died in 2021 as a result of the pandemic) devoted years to investigating this mystery. He did not skimp on expeditions, paid for them, and went to the Mountain of the Dead himself. In his last interview, he said: "This mystery has no solution. All dozens of versions turn out to be untenable. For example, seven scientifically proven arguments support some version, but one or two (also scientifically proven) counterarguments are found that destroy the logic of the version. And this happens WITH ALL VERSIONS WITHOUT EXCEPTION. There is a reasoned objection to any version."
I agree with him.

Their corpses weren't "scattered around the campsite," Paddy, many were hundreds of meters away. You are not good at facts.

this entire incident is such a clusterfuck of theories because a lot of them make sense, but none of them make complete sense or don’t fully line up with what happened

the otherwise unexplained presence of radiation leaves no doubt in my mind that they wandered into either some sort of weapons test area for some kind of neutron based irradiation laser, or literally just a miniature nuke.

The homemade heater in the tent probably played a big role in this, especially as they cut themselves out a flap in the tent.

Hey Qxir, you probably won't read this, but here goes. There is a phenomenon in lethal hypothermia called "paradoxical undressing." Often times these people, when nearing death, will feel like they are burning up or as if they had a fever. This often leads to similar cases as discussed in this video.

Didn’t Disney solve this? Seriously, the AI program that helped create snow for the movie Frozen was able to explain what happened.
