GOP Panics As Cook Political Report Just Shifted 6 House Seats Toward Democrats
The GOP faces a major warning sign after the Cook Political Report shifted six House races toward Democrats. These new 2026 House ratings suggest that Democrats currently have momentum in the battle for control of Congress, although Republicans still have a path to retain their majority.
In this video, we break down the six House races moving in the Democratic direction, why Cook made these changes and what they could mean for the 2026 midterm elections.
One of the most surprising developments is in Texas’s 15th Congressional District. Donald Trump carried the district by 18 points in 2024, but Cook has now moved the race from Likely Republican to Lean Republican as Republican Rep. Monica De La Cruz faces Democratic challenger Bobby Pulido.
We will also examine:
• Cook Political Report’s updated House ratings
• The expanding 2026 House battleground map
• Why previously Republican-leaning districts are becoming competitive
• The latest generic ballot polling
• How the current environment compares with the 2018 midterms
• What Democrats need to regain control of the House
• The remaining Republican path to a House majority
A ratings shift is not a guarantee of the final election outcome. However, these changes provide another important data point showing that the fight for House control is becoming increasingly competitive.
Do Democrats have the momentum needed to win the House, or can Republicans reverse the current trajectory before Election Day? Let me know what you think in the comments.

Cook just shifted six House races toward Democrats—but does this signal real momentum, or is it still too early to call?

The momentum is away from Trump and that must impact the GOP significantly. Clearly the Democrats need to work hard to capitalise on this momentum.

The Generic Congressional Vote just shows how egregiously uninformed and outright stupid the American electorate is. This generic vote should be at least 12 or even 15% after the damage Trump and the Republicans have done to the country, or at least to most of the people living and working here and trying to make it. NOTHING is better than 2 years ago and many things are much worse. But: the bible, and religion, and social media ignorance, and 24/7/365 brainwashing through outrageous claims about "the left". It's actually not Trump and (R) dismantling and destroying, it's pure self-destruction through stupidity.

Cook is careful which puts them way behind the times. +30, +40? No Republican seat less than 15% lean Trump is safe. None of them.

Dave correct me if I'm wrong; Trump in his first term he lost 40 seats in the house; i strongly believe if the people really vote 🗳 how i hear people complaining ; i think republicans are going to lose alot

And remember – there's no logical, realistic, legal, illegal, or even remotely feasible way Trump can stop or upend the election in his favor.
He's going to lose, he's going to lose in a way he CAN'T rig, and he's going to flip his lid about it. America has had enough. We've had enough since January 20th, 2025.

A 218 majority is insufficient. Yes, it would give Democrats control of the House, but Jeffries is not Pelosi. He'll need a bigger majority because he's not a strong enough leader to keep everyone on side. It would be nice to have another leader entirely, but that's a different rabbit hole.

Trump really didn't win the 2024 Election. Everyone knows Elon Musk Rigged the Election for Trump. Trump even admitted Elon Musk did something to the Computers so he would stay out of Jail. Kamala Harris is the Rightful winner. Hey that's a true fact
