In this video, we look into the fascinating field of applied mathematics known as game theory. Using various models and simulations, most game theory experts were caught completely off guard by something universal that game theory reveals: a specific strategy in life that wins most of the time—that’s profoundly simple.

The video didnt showed the strategy she made about the dishes. But based on that same strategy I read with same situation (coz the maker of video he just showed part 1), it used the strategy of controlled retaliation.
After she cleaned the dishes, she hides them all. Making it the strategy of one defected and one cooperate. And in every time the girl dont clean the dishes she needs to eat in resturant which is more expensive

There is a missing variable here, what one party does not mind a dirty kitchen compared to the other one, meaning the value of cooperation is more for one than the other

The Holy Quran provides a profound blueprint for human interaction that astonishingly aligns with the mathematical strategies of Game Theory. Specifically, it mirrors the "Tit-for-Tat" strategy, which has been scientifically proven to be the most effective approach for establishing stability, fostering human cooperation, and preventing exploitation.

Here are the key Quranic evidences that perfectly match the rules of Game Theory:

The "Tit-for-Tat" Strategy (Reciprocity): This strategy initiates with cooperation but responds to actions in kind—good for good, and deterrence for aggression.

Quranic Evidence: "The recompense for an injury is an injury equal thereto." [Ash-Shura: 40]

Quranic Evidence: "Whoever commits aggression against you, retaliate against them in the same manner as they aggressed against you." [Al-Baqarah: 194]

Punishment Cessation (Immediate Halt to Retaliation): In Game Theory, deterrence must stop immediately once the other party ceases their aggression. Continuing to punish after they back down turns the player into an aggressor and destroys future cooperation.

Quranic Evidence: "But if they cease, let there be no hostility except against wrongdoers." [Al-Baqarah: 193]

Conditional Forgiveness (Restoring Cooperation): If the opponent stops defecting and seeks cooperation, the player must forgive immediately to rebuild trust and prevent an endless loop of mutual destruction.

Quranic Evidence: "…but whoever pardons and makes reconciliation – his reward is [due] from Allah." [Ash-Shura: 40]

Quranic Evidence: "Except for those who repent and correct themselves and make evident [the truth]. Those I will accept their repentance." [Al-Baqarah: 160]

The "Generous / Win-Win" Strategy: Breaking a negative cycle of retaliation with an act of kindness can transform an adversary into a cooperative partner. Game theory and social psychology identify this as shifting a zero-sum conflict into a mutually beneficial game.

Quranic Evidence: "Repel [evil] by that [deed] which is better; and thereupon, the one whom between you and him is enmity [will become] as though he were a devoted friend." [Fussilat: 34]

Sanctity of Contracts and Transparency (Common Knowledge): Cooperative games only succeed when there is complete clarity, transparency, and strict adherence to agreements to prevent defection or betrayal.

Quranic Evidence: "O you who have believed, fulfill [all] contracts." [Al-Ma'idah: 1]

Gee, I wish I knew about this when I was a kid and young adult. It is interesting though to learn about how unethical/immoral/opportunistic people can be given half a chance. I know a psychologist who believes that given a chance people will choose to be good. This is so foolishly naive; it's staggering. People need to be strategically sculpted. If you depend on people being naturally ethical, mindful/thoughtful, restrained and responsible, you're in for some trouble even with the small things….

This exact scenario happened when my brother and I rented our first apartment together. After a few weeks I threw all the dishes away. Every single one them: plates, pot, pans, silverware, glasses…everything. Problem solved.

As all theories it requires a perfectly isolated model that never happens in real life. In a model an actor has onbly a limited amount of choices, but in life they have unlimited and will often do things you can never expect because you don't have perfect knowledge about every variable. So you keep coming up with theories like this that work in the majority or even 99.99% of instances but you never know if the next one will be the exception. In the end, you can't predict anything with absolute accurancy. If you could, you would would cease to be a human, but you are damned to keep trying exactly because you are a human. Such a sick joke of an existence.

The most interesting part is that the winning strategy wasn’t blind kindness or ruthless self-interest — it was clear cooperation with boundaries. Be open enough to trust first, strong enough to respond when trust is broken, and forgiving enough to return to peace when the other person does. That feels like strategy, but also like maturity.
