This is soft-core Christian nationalism and cafeteria Catholicism ("common goodism", i understand that Murphy is not Catholic).
This is a very bad assessment; for when you speak of "failure" without also speaking about systemic sabotage by bad faith actors on our democratic institutions, the critique will be incomplete and give credit where credit is not due.
Freedom is not a flaw, deconstruction of civic institutions and norms by corporations and political activists that abuse freedom are the flaws.
Freedom (personal) is not a flaw but it is incomplete without liberty (systemic) which includes things like living wages, health care, and good public transit.
It was civil religion which opened the door to religious nationalism and Murphy appears to be another usher ready to open more doors for conservatives to walk through and wreck things.

The Democratic party base is split into change-oriented Progressives and pro-institutionalist Moderates/Centrists. Progressives have defined public issues and resolutions for a good twenty years now, and Moderates have not defined issues or proposed resolutions for about forty years now.
These guys are moderates who don't understand the broad Progressive movement and can't admit how successful it has been over the last two decades.
In fact, this podcast is exactly what I would script, if I were a moderate who is trying to take over the Democratic Party from its Progressive base.

There is no “spiritual crisis”. It’s a reality crisis. All religions have been thoroughly debunked for over a hundred years now. It’s growing pains. The rest of humanity is struggling as they are stuck between two realities. Modernity and the biblical age. Until humanity grows up and embraces atheism and materialism, nothing will be fixed and will only continue to worse so long as we let people with Bronze Age delusions have their hands on the levers of power.

Republicans are too fixated on law and order + immigration and national security.
Democrats are too fixated on social reforms despite society not being ready for it and labour vs capital debate.
But both parties doesn't even acknowledge the rising social isolation and mental health crisis forget about addressing it.
As a result, there is a democratic deficit between the mainstream polity and social concerns.

It’s not the Left nor the Rights job to fix spirituality. That’s a personal matter between the individual and who they believe is the Higher Power. Their job is to support the working class of America and to end oligarchies and corruption.

A strong stable common good capitalism doesn't exist because the private ownership of businesses is what is what capitalism definitionally is and that creates an unstable, undemocratic, oligarchy over time that will undermine democracy and regulations. We had regulations and protections and they were undermined, why should we repeat the same mistakes?
We need worker/community ownership of businesses instead (especially large ones, small/family businesses could just be highly regulated). We could also consider inheritance taxes (why should expropriated wealth be passed on to the next generation). That would ensure our economy is aligned with the rest of society and is run democratically instead of it undermining our democracy to satisfy our oligarchy.
We need democratic socialism to end the oligarchy that is killing our democracy. There is no reason necessities should be out of reach for anyone in our country.

There are democrats who are Christian, Catholic, or Muslim. The last Democratic president is a devout Catholic. The one before him converted to Christianity as an adult.

One thing that the Democratic Party needs to address, which it seems to be terrified to do, is the corruption within their own party. They can accuse the Republicans of taking tons of money from mega wealthy oligarchs, but how many of them take money from PACs and super-PACs that also conceal where the money comes from. The Democrats accuse the Republicans of gerrymandering, but how many "blue districts" existed before the race to the bottom was set off in Texas last year. I'm not a supporter of the GOP, but the Democrats need to change in order to win my vote again, even though my vote is worthless because I'm in a "red district".

Politics isn't based on spirituality. It's based on exploitation. To give you a false god to worship. When in god we trust can only be found in one place. When should spiritual authority supercede political authority? And why has humans detached themselves from the rest of the animal kingdom but claims to know what's best for all other forms of life? Blind faith is a trap. The subconscious is Gods domain, not a vatican church. America is only known for division domestically and internationally.

Jesus would never ever support anything the Republicans and their right-winger goons are doing right now. He will deal with these corrupt and hateful people the same way he dealt with the money changers and criminals who were occupying the Second Temple in Jerusalem. Bible already mandates in the new testament what true followers of Christ are supposed to be doing which is to help and support the poor vulnerable population not destroying their life and make them suffer like the republicans want to do right now.
