Defunctland: The History of Disneyland’s Adventure Thru Inner Space
Special Thanks to Steve Wesson (TheMightyMicroscope.com) and David Oneal for letting me use their photos/videos.
In this episode, Kevin discusses the history of Disneyland’s Adventure Thru Inner Space, a ride that shrank guests to the size of an atom and was sponsored by an infamous company.

Of course Monsanto wanted the ride to focus on one of their chemicals instead of water. That's the most Monsanto thing I've ever heard.

God I wish Americans still hated corporations and patriotism.

This ride was way before my time but it was cool to hear a snippet of the narration in the Remember Dreams Come True fireworks show a while back. MAG-NIF-ICAY-SHUN!

@15:44 I have a partially used ticket book around here somewhere. My first Disneyland memories are from this cool ride and the terrifying Lincoln animatronic in the late 70s or early 80s.

The ride was a boon on hot days. Air conditioned, even the line, and cheap or free.

Usually I don’t really feel the need to experience whatever ride is the topic for the video, but man, I do wish I got to go through this one

Monsanto is just one of the company's hell bent on killing the entire population of the planet very very slowly just like DuPont and their miracle Teflon

Unlike you, I refuse to sympathize with communists. Clearly, we didn't drop enough defoliants and incendiaries. If only we'd dropped 100 times more, Vietnam might be free of the commie filth.

Beem binge watching since the latest episode and this has better pacing and quality than most Netflix documentaries that do long interviews to do the explaining

Ugh, I hate that the very-cool concept of a microscopy-based dark ride was fouled by Monsanto corporatism. Every step of "isn't chemistry amazing?" is paired with a statement of "look at this new plastic clothing that will create an endless volume of microplastics!" Like, really? We're gonna undersell the beauty of the natural world with CARPETING? Absurd. They should've rebuilt the dark ride with a greater focus on microfauna and flora like tardigrades, nematodes, diatoms, etc.

question- the music score for the first 40secs of this video, is it from something or was it created specifically for this video. I love it!

Loved Tomorrowland and the innerspace ride as a youngster. Did not know about monsatans nastiness until later after the moved on from agent orange to the even more widespread longterm poisoning of life with humancide forever chemicals.

I started watching you back around 2016 or 17 and I’ve gotta say, this is extremely impressive and your growth gives my sad heart a shred of hope. The way you’ve been weaving your narratives has been really enjoyable. It’s gotten to the point where I just trust you to make the weave worthwhile— which is a big deal on YouTube, where they will weave nonsense forever without any point just to keep viewers on the hook. Not you. If he’s on a roll about Vietnam, agriculture and war crime, I can rest assured that, some fucking how, leads back to that weird molecule ride thing in old Disney 🫠

USA Should pay 1 mio. USD for every liter of agent orange sprayed… It's hard to feel sad for a country destroying another country's generations to come and celebrating the people doing it as heroes.

As the son of someone who has been battling several different kinds of cancers due to agent orange exposure for decades, the agent orange pivot was a welcome and meaningful one.

Imterestingly, Veritasium has a recent video on Monsanto trying to convince regulators that their Round-up herbicide was safe but was actually a carcinogen.

I first rode Adventures Throug Inner Space as a 9 year old. It was a mystical experiace for me. My favorite all-time ride. Well, The Enchanted Tiki Room also gave me wonder and joy, but that debued a few years later, and this joy and wonder were enhansed by my smoking a doobie on the Sky Ride
