I love Lynch's interview explaining how he came up with the plot of Blue Velvet. One day he envisioned green grass, red lipstick, white picket fences, and blue skies. He stuck to that simple original vision during the entire creative process to create a cohesive aesthetic. He also talked about the nature of ideas themselves, how they seem to come from within us and outside of us simultaneously. You don't create an idea so much as you catch one when it appears.

I dont know, I guess i don't see the value in exploring how much of a monster you really are. Monsters are meant for killing, not for shaking hands with. A man who can face the world. Putting g your darkest impulses into complete submission seems to be a much more worthwhile goal.

I had to face my fears because there is no where else for me to go.

Age makes me compliant. But I am also glad.

Awesome video! Blue Velvet is an incredible film. There's something so hypnotic about it: the juxtaposition between classic Americana and bloody horrors.
