It's 2016. What happened to Mr. Eagleman's vest invention? He even showed it at TED two years back but not much else after that. Does anyone have any updates?

The current unquestioned assumptions seem much more likely than what you are proposing.

I didn't say that all future technology will only distract us. But for this particular technology it's true. It could be good for deaf or blind. But streaming stock market data through your skin sounds ridiculous. If anything I want to stream it to some artificial neural network or markov chains to figure it out.Future is about technology that makes decisions/actions for us or shows us what's important for us. Jamming all senses with data doesn't' seem exiting to me at all.

You just made a huge accusation that the future of technology will only distract us and that its bad. If you have an iphone or any smart phone right now, you can do so many things on that device to be productive and better yourself that you couldnt do only a decade ago, yes you can take it in the other direction but if your not productive then you probably coudnt afford it in the first place. Technology doesnt distract us, it can, but important technology betters us.
@JohnBastardSnow

Distractions and interruptions are number one productivity decrease factors. Most of information that we receive is total unimportant garbage, but our mammalian brains still pay attention to it.
If you honestly believe that overstimulating your senses leads to focus on what's important and enhances your productivity then you probably never even were productive.
Many CEOs turn off their phones during most of their work-time and read emails once per day for a reason.

If you honestly believe that then you have no use to humanity, we live off information, we feed off it.
@JohnBastardSnow
April 6, 2026 at 12:05 pm
People are already overstimulated with information. We don't really need to feed more information to the brain. Do we really need more? Now there's more than enough technology to keep us distracted all the time.
