Dallas Vintage Toys – The Holy Grail for Toy Collectors!

Our Gen X Life | December 14, 2025

Today Abby is joined by her friend Jill and special guest Bernard to visit Dallas Vintage Toys and experience some serious 80s nostalgia! It’s Bernard’s first time in America, and what better way to celebrate than by shopping for vintage toy treasures? Bernhard is a major collector of vintage toys, especially Masters of the Universe. This fun adventure brings back memories of shopping at Toys r Us for classic Star Wars figures, Strawberry Shortcake dolls, He-Man and She-ra!

Hello Bernhard, my friend. It's great to see you had fun in the USA and met some nice people there. 🥰 The toy store is great. 👍 I think I would have bought the Eternia Play Set. 🤩

    Whoah,that place is amazing.
I don’t collect old toys,I just have all of them from the 70’s and 80’s.
A fair amount of Star Wars stuff(always from the Sears catalog)
And my all time favorite,a huge Rodman, from the Godzilla movies, but part of the Shogun Warriors line of toys.
Those Shogun Warriors were rife with choking hazards🤣😳

x 0:01 Masters of the Universe was inducted into the Toy Hall of Fame in 2022.
o I voted for the toyline to be inducted.

x 0:11 My family (the Tetschner Family) moved from Prussia (inside Germany) to Nebraska around 1825.
x 1:10 In reference to that Lord of the Rings Board game set…the movie Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King was the last Best Picture winner in the 19 consecutive years of school I went to (from Kindergarten to graduating from grad school at Mizzou).
o It was the first fantasy movie to win Best Picture.
o Actor Bernard Hill played Théoden on the movie AND played the haunting role of Captain Smith in the movie Titanic.
† He is the only person in history to play roles in TWO movies that won 11 Academy Awards!

x 3:29 At the top…there is Buzz Lightyear in a box!
x 6:16 Dick Tracy was the first movie shown by the new owners of our hometown movie theater (the owners being my godparents).
o They have owned it since 1990!

x 6:32 I have celebrated Day of the Dead the last three years!
x 8:38 Baseball cards were inducted into the Toy Hall Of Fame in 2023.
o I voted for them to be inducted.

That was such a fun store! We’re gonna have to go there next time we are in Dallas. I’m gonna have to share this video with my brother. He absolutely loved He-Man as a kid and I liked Shera as well. In fact, I still have my Shera costume I wore for Halloween one year. It was the kind that has those suffocating plastic masks that you cannot breathe in! By the way, I got my button in the mail from you yesterday and I absolutely love it! Thanks again!
