Wait wait wait… You've never seen Star Trek the original series, yet you feel confident enough to make blanket statements about Kirk's competence as a captain?

I mean, you're absolutely right, Picard ftw, but still =P

Also, GT was flawed, DEEPLY flawed, but I LOVED the concept of the dragon balls, themselves, just saying "SCREW THIS" and then trying to destroy the idiots that kept using and abusing them

It's quite upsetting that someone would describe Ollie as a radical leftist. I don't always agree with him, but as far as I've heard he mainly espouses sensible, well thought-out, moderate ideas about equality and fairness. It just demonstrates how people are starting to wrongly conflate liberalism with regressive leftism.

What exactly is the responsibly of the country or/and nation and/or state in our modern times and the times before such. (i was watching a Pro Israel argue for Israel and he said that Israel as a country deserves Self Determination or its right of identity and survival, i totally agree but my question is to what extent and for what identity should/could/ought a country in a Post-WW1(and WW2 p.s. i consider WW1 the gateway to the 'modern') world have to sustain peace but creativity? (creativity needs different define people and ideas to exist and total peace is to me at least total stagnation i.e. creativity is the spark that happens when 2 swords collide if the swords don't exist neither do the sparks)

Hey Olly! Great work with the channel, really enjoying it. Could you possibly do a video on 'The Problem of Other Minds' please? Or is there already one I can view?

    Thanks man!

There is a really interesting alternative to democracy or a group of professionals deciding upon an issue (I've read about it in an interview with a Belgian historian David Van Reybrouck): have a computer randomly select a sample of the voting population, give them a period of time (I think six months were proposed) with full coverage of their expenses and free access to all resources and experts on the field, then make them and only them vote on the matter. It would not erase an individual's bias(es), but randomness supposedly makes the group representative while enabling the decision to be more thoroughly researched.

Probably insanely impractical and costly to implement, but an interesting approach nevertheless.

Is there an author that connects Kants categorical imperativ and the institutional model od rights. I've been trying to design a model of rights, wich defines a "right" as an intrest in kantia,n terms, and would be otherwise equvalent to rights in intitutional model.looking forward to new ethical videos, tnx

I'm sorry, this has nothing to do with the discussion, but I just can't get over how handsome you look, dude. I mean, you always looked handsome in your videos, but it's like you carry a presence now, whether it's confidence, security, or a sense of purpose. Whatever it is, your audience can tell that you're on a path toward an amazing future, just by the way you present yourself alone. Man, it's awesome seeing how people succeed over a long period of time. Inspiring even. I'm glad you finally have the support you worked so hard to achieve. Keep it up 😉

Thanks for the great content! I especially liked the "What Happens in a Philosopher's Brain?" video. Please keep it up!

P.S. any plans to do more or psych/cog science or philosophy of mind?

The problems of democracy are impossible to solve, short of waiting for the singularity and hoping that can help. But it's down to that old chestnut (often ascribed to Churchill, though he didn't originate it): "Democracy is the worst form of government except for all of the others." We just now understand somewhat better where the flaws are, without knowing what we can do about them. Problematic or not, it's been clear for a while that, in politics, reason is too often a slave of the passions.

The charisma think is the biggest problem with your last video and with our elections in general. Good campaigners are rarely proportionally good leaders. Generating popular support won't do you any good in the situation room or dealing with policy wonks . Government isn't just debate club for old people, it's a bureaucratic institution which requires deft hands to operate. The skills necessary for that kind of position are invisible and unmotivating to voters

I'm curious to hear your opinion on a trend I have noticed- Popularity vs Credibility or better stated Popularity >Credibility. I've noticed that people (generally speaking) favor something or someone that is heralded for being famous verses being credible. Do you have any insight on this.

hey and how come you started seperate videos for comments as opposed to at the end of your videos like you used to?
ps, i have a theory about that whole subscriber thing, you see, the strange thing iv found with most people is that, well they dont have youtube acounts! GASP!
Yet still seem to watch a fair amount of youtube? like when i was little, most people dont seem to know how easy it is to get one?
Hell! iv met 2 people whov been sined in to there google acounts yet having no clue that they could even get a youtube account! when all you have to do, is click the sighn in button and it automatically sighns you up no username no password its that simple but they never even tried?!?!
and something elts iv noticed is that pretty much everyone whos ever commented on my channel and iv checked out there channel has had at leeast 2 videos and i know i have a tiny channel that mostly only verry involved people would find still, i mean not many people actually make videos so the fact that i find it hard even on randome searches to find ones with none is, well kinda suspicious?

I don't find it to be sad at all that you're moving/changing set. New environment, experiences, etc. I'm looking forward to the changes -for better or worse;))!

People aren't saying that you can't be emotional and rational, but just that a lot of the time, feelings are held as more important than facts or are actually held as facts (you feeling X doesn't mean X is true or actually happening), or they misinterpret what is actually being said because it sounds nasty to them and they refuse to listen and take what you said exactly as said.
