Casually Explained: Group Projects

Great advice! My own experience of working in groups in an I.T. office, is that there's an additional important step — blaming all of the other groups for causing my group to fail.

The worst group project I have ever done was a movie skit for French class. It is very hard to get all 5 of us to meet up outside of school but we have 3 people that are very slow at moving to each film point and 1 person who really cares but is slow to remember their lines. When recording we kept getting interrupted by other groups passing by or my group members just messing around. But what made it bad was that it is not something you can just do 99% of the work in because it requires everyone to be there and play their part. I would rather do 99% of everything that needs to be done because at least then, I can have things be done and the class is pretty easy for me which means it is not going to take very long to do either. But the teacher isn't going to let me solo the entire project because she needs to hear everyone speak and have everyone write part of the script.

The first on which everyone will need to agree is of course how to write list of authors. Maybe it will cool down some from trying hard if their name by alphabet are always in the end of list.

Haha. In highschool we had an investigation group work on a random subject. The catch was that they were gonna rank the presentations in terms of quality, and number one "got" to present it in front of all school at the end year's exposition. For 6 hours in a row.

I asked my group if they wanted to win. They said no, but they wanted second place. So i offered to do it all alone and get us second place. We agreed.

I tryharded that paper so bad. We got second place and walked away with the glory of having the best quality work without having to present it any further.

This is so damn accurate (at least from my experience and I have at least been 3-4 of those roles in my live) 🤣

Statistically, if the average number of members in a project is six people, and 4 out of those 6 actually do work (this is not an optimistic estimate, nope not at all) then one in every three comments (this is totally how probability works) in this comment section is lying their ass off about actually slogging while their group slacked off.
