Benjamin Tod, “End With You,” // GemsOnVHS™

GemsOnVHS | March 9, 2026

I’ve always thought, personally, that Ben’s best songs are love songs. The temperament of his love songs usually ranges between playful and painful. Someone is usually leaving, or left and came back. They’re asking for forgiveness or dealing with pain. Grace’s Casket is my personal favorite, and the list is decently long at least. This one is a little more earnest than the others. He rarely has seemed to write so directly about honest, soft, long love. No one is leaving, no one has plans of going anywhere (“i’m too old for gettin gone”). No ultimatums, no judgement, no anger. It is good to see some evolution in the approach to the subject matter, one that reflects maturity and acceptance with the passing of time.

Like any relationship, i’m sure Ben and Ashley’s is complicated. Over the years i’ve come to see, as tough as it is, they seem to keep each other sane. Sane as one can be anyway. Ben seems to thrive with a little bit of order, and I think that’s true for a lot of us. I wouldn’t want to live with Ben for 10 years, so good on Ashley. Hard to imagine ten years has passed at all, and I know they would’ve been a lot different had things turned out any other way. So sing a love song to the ones you love, and stop blaming them for what’s wrong with you.

As long as Nashville continues to refuse to acknowledge artists like Benjamin Tod, they'll continue to suck. There's a reason why people gravitate towards B.T. , Tyler Childers, Larry Fleet, Cody Jinks, Paul Thorn, etc. Their music and lyrics resonate with people, plain and simple. As a musician, singer, and songwriter, I respect Ben's quality songs and vocals immensely.

The first woman I loved called me a monster. The second woman I loved called me a demon. I'm not abusive. I've never cheated. I don't have drug problems. The problem is that I was severely abused and abandoned as a child and don't know how to form healthy bonds. The problem is that I don't process my emotions like most people and I don't allow others the space they need to process theirs. I thought being stern and stoic was what it meant to be a man. Women would cheat on their boyfriend's with me and I used that as a way to condemn women for being wh-res and accuse other men as being weak. I've been going to church but I struggle with lust. I wish I wasn't attractive. I wish I could just have a wife and family. But God knows as well as I do that men like me don't get to have those things. I'll probably die alone and I deserve it.

I've loved a woman for fourteen years, I've never met her in person and she doesn't talk to me except through encrypted messages in her art claiming her love for me. I hear her in my head talking to me. Is it true love is insanity? It drove Picasso mad, and killed his best friend casserjamerson, love… I often wonder who is this shadow, watching everything I do but doesn't talk. Why is the mystery. A true love story of Burning Man BM

I struggled with substance abuse using opiates for about 8 years, was in many abusive relationships in that time, I got clean, found myself, and found the love of my life. This song is definitely going to be one of our wedding songs

Most underrated song writer and voice in the category of music. Wish Benjamin and his family nothing but love, peace, happiness, and wealth but God does he write songs for the downtrodden, the regular, the irregular, the overlooked, the outcast, the addicted, the list goes on. Couldn’t be more thankful and grateful for Benjamin and his wife for everything they do that they may never receive the accolades for. Saved me many nights. 💚 peace and love from the East Coast everybody
