This tour gave its passengers a real taste of Chicago.

“On August 8, 2004 over the Kinzie Street Bridge in Chicago, Illinois, a tour bus belonging to the Dave Matthews Band dumped an estimated 800 pounds of human waste from the bus’s septic tank onto a passenger sightseeing boat on the Chicago River below.
The resulting controversy led to more than $300,000 in settlements, donations, and fines. The band’s bus driver, Stefan Wohl, pleaded guilty to dumping the waste in March 2005.”

    Under the Table and Dreaming?
More like Under the Bridge and Screaming!

It's deeply frustrating that they prosecuted over pollution and damage to the state, but not for what they did to their victims. The cause may have been negligence rather than malice aforethought, but criminal negligence is criminal, and so the trauma the victims suffered and the damage to their property should have been treated by the state as a crime!

But there's a reason you almost never see a millionaire on death row, I suppose.

When the driver was asked what he had been thinking, he replied, "Well, I was pretty stoned and was humming a CCR tune and I just, kinda hit the button while running on autopilot for the brain. :

This could be the topic of a whole other video of yours (if it isn't already) but the Kinzie Street Bridge is cursed
Not only is it connected to the Dave Matthews Band Chicago River Incident, it's also connected to the "Chicago Flood". At some point some new pilings were being drilled into the riverbed under that bridge and one accidentally punctured a series of Ghostbusters 2-ass underground tunnels that were used to deliver coal to Chicago skyscrapers in the 1900s. The river poured into the breached tunnel and flooded every major pre-1970s basement in downtown Chicago. Millions upon millions of dollars in damages.

wait so DMB covers dozens of people in piss and shit and has to pay the city for it, not the people they actually likely scarred for life by doing it? fucking bureaucracies man…

gotta love the system. 18 months probation… $10,000 in fines to the river environmental organization, $50,000 donated to the same organization and another $50,000 to the Chicago park district and $200,000 paid to the state. Wonderful, total of $310,000 … tell me again how much of that went to the people who got the "human waste" dumped all over them?!?!?
