Awakening the Sleeping Giant | Chicano and Indigenous Unity | Eagle and Condor

Drum Circle News | October 30, 2026

What does the Eagle and Condor prophecy mean for Indigenous unity today? Explore ancestral wisdom, cultural reconnection, and the relationships bringing communities across the Americas together.

In Awakening the Sleeping Giant, host Dylan Aubrey gathers Indigenous voices, cultural educators, and community organizers on Drum Circle News to explore a powerful question: How do we carry the teachings of our ancestors into the way we live today?

Drawing on experiences from an Eagle and Condor gathering in Sedona, the conversation explores a “living prophecy”—connecting the traditions of the North and South, bringing mind and heart together, and passing knowledge from elders to future generations. These are teachings participants describe through their own experiences, relationships, and community responsibilities

For anyone reconnecting with Indigenous roots or searching for a deeper sense of belonging, this conversation speaks to the journey of finding your way back. The panel discusses Chicano, Mexican, and Latino connections to Indigenous identity, the divisions created by colonization and borders, and the importance of rebuilding relationships without erasing each community’s distinct culture.

From Toltec teachings on inner balance to reflections on women’s leadership, cultural renewal, and caring for land and water, the discussion returns to the home: listening to our elders, supporting one another, sharing language and traditions with our children, and bringing the lessons of ceremony into everyday life.

The conversation also moves into practical questions of Indigenous sovereignty. Guests discuss proposals for direct trade between Indigenous communities, stronger food systems, economic self-sufficiency, and the vision of United First Nations. Cultural reconnection and community-building meet a larger question: What can our peoples create together?

Watch through the closing reflection with Coral Herencia, offering gratitude to Mother Earth and speaking to our shared responsibility to protect watersheds and mountains.
