A Day In The Life Of A Spanish Inquisitor

Weird History | April 23, 2026

When most people think of the Spanish Inquisition, they typically think of torture (or Monty Python), and for good reason. Between 1478 and 1834, Catholic monarchs in Spain and Spanish territories used the tribunal to combat heretics, torturing and executing thousands. While modern historians say the Spanish Inquisition’s reputation as a torture-fest is a bit exaggerated, the facts are clear: Some pretty gnarly stuff definitely went down.

When will people speak about the Protestant Inquisition, which was by far the deadliest and most unfair of all? The Spanish Inquisition was not that horrible monster everybody thinks. It was far from a real justice but there are too many lies said about it. There were only 3 types of torture allowed: water, wrack, strappado. The other tortures don't belong to the Spanish inquisition. Torture was not the norm. If the accused did repent, he was forgiven.

I read HISTORICAL BOOKS and not from the BIAS Roman Catholic Video/Media Propaganda, downsizing the true Historical Events that actually happened… Pope John Paul II already had ACKNOWLEDGED and APOLOGIZED, from the ATROCITY and SIN of the Roman Catholic Church and the Method/System of INQUISITION… He apologized in PUBLIC and was seen by the Whole World in 2000… Facts and Truth, Historically speaking… Amen.

During the time of the Apostles and Early Christian Churches, the METHODOLOGY/SYSTEM of INQUISITION (Inquiry or Investigation) was through Civilize and Orderly PUBLIC DEBATES, and not through Physical TORTURE, BARBARIC/PAGAN WAY OR EXECUTION/MURDER, and FORCEFUL RECANTATION/RETRACTION…

Ex-Catholic Priest Martin Luther was never given any FAIR PUBLIC DEBATE, but instead, a forceful retraction/recantation of all he had written down… the Roman Catholic Church lost the Peaceful Democratic and Civilized Way of the Apostles in tackling/handling HERESIES of/from the CHURCH through Public Forum… Either the "Catholic Way or NO Way" Policy…

Facts and Truth, Historically speaking… Amen.

The EVIL METHODOLOGY/SYSTEM of INQUISITION fires back to the Roman Catholic Church… instead of STOPPING the Fire from spreading, it spread RAPIDLY and WORLDWIDE…

In just over 500 years, they grew up to almost 1 Billion members in more than 5000 Protestant Denomination Churches around the world…

Facts and Truth of the History of the PROTESTANT REFORMERS… Amen.

I’m waiting for an episode on the bloody serial killer of wives/enemies of the state and Protestant religion maker: English Henry VIII. He put the entire Spanish Inquisition to shame on body count. I’m sad to say I’m related to the Godless brute by way of a bastard son.

Our chief weapon is fear, fear and surprise; our chief weapons are fear and surprise and ruthless efficiency and an almost fanatical devotion to the pope…. Amongst our weaponry are fear, surprise, ruthless efficiency, a fanatical devotion to the pope and nice red uniforms….

It makes you wonder why the Christians wanted their religion’s values to be kindness and fairness, when the people who worship it had been killing in God’s name for all of history.
Like the Greeks were really bad too, but their god also did really f-ed up stuff all the time!

I don't know why people see the Spanish Inquisition as bad, for centuries the Barbaric Arab Muslims rampaged Hispania and attempted to annex France TWICE, raided Rome and launched attacks on Constantinople several times, they actually deserved to be burnt at stakes not exiled, as for Jews, they weren't much different, in fact Christians have always disliked Jews more than Muslims because Jews openly insult Jesus Christ and Christianity and move towards their own false outdated belief. In any way, the Spanish Inquisition was a very necessary and good thing which ended the Islamic horror in Western Europe, as a Russian I can feel it too, many unfortunately sympathies with the Mongols of Crimea and Russia and believe they should be respected, while I believe they must be kicked straight to a Mongolian Yurt, the place they came from.

Humans can be such horrible, hypocrite little brats. I am a christian and learning more about the bible everyday and if these people truly knew and lived by the bible, things like an inquisition would NEVER have happened. They just needed an excuse to exercise their need for being cruel to attain power. Disgusting. Thankfully they are now getting what they deserve.
