I know you've said you dislike the idea of family farms being left to kids of the next generation by default, but the young lad there seems to have taken a liking to the lifestyle.

I know the feeling well…and be so careful not to overdo it when it is smoky. These incidents add up over a lifetime and get harder to take. The pasture is covered with ashes. Are they eating slow because it needs rinsing off….will it rain and make a bigger mess.

It sure is eerie when the wildfire smoke blots out the sun! So far, we're good in the Willamette valley but if the winds shift and come down the Columbia gorge, our skies will look just like yours!

I was in 7 grade and we could see the clouds of smoke from the Yellowstone Park fires in the late eighties. The bright pink sun was creepy.

I am a teacher at a kids' school and I have to deal with kids who are almost like your Elvis here. Well, not exactly like Elvis but somewhat similar. And as I heard you say 'hurting stick' it clicked my head thinking both Elvis and my students do not understand our way of living and we are trying our best to teach them that. It is hard and I just wanted to say that I understand what you deal with everyday. Keep farming. Keep teaching.❤
PS – my dad is a crop farmer. And my mom is a teacher. Both of their way of maintaining everything helps me a lot in my field.

Morgan. You are a great man who gives his time and energy to make others happy. The young boy under your wing in this video is so blessed to have you for someone who cares for him and his brother. Good on you, Mate!

It was like this on the west coast a few years ago, the nice thing about it was that it cooled things down by 10°C during a relentless heatwave

As an Australian and thus someone who has seen the ash in the sky turn the Sun amber or even a blood red many a times, be sure to get your cars in the barn before the next time it rains.

Here in West Michigan the wildfire smoke has been as thick as fog some days. We had our worst air quality reading ever. 🙁 Huge sympathy and concern for our neighbors to the north. Hope they get some solid rain soon.

Allison's garden is so tidy!! I'm sure Trump's tariffs on some Canadian products will force them to manage their wildfires better so the US doesn't get smoke from them. Of course Canada should do the same since wildfires in Washington and Oregon are smoking out British Columbia..

very orange day here too… I appreciate you saying that its not okay…
we're not doing this on purpose
we sent firefighters when USA was burning last year…
we'd appreciate some assistance and understanding when we're burning down unintended…
sorry for our smoke…

In September 1970, while my family and I were living in El Toro, CA (south Orange County), there was a brushfire nearby. We nearly had to evacuate, but the fire was brought under control before we had to leave. I later heard that one of my teachers lost her home. The smoke was black; the sun barely shone through the smoke plume; it was orange-black, giving very little light.

The flies are horrible. Where’s your chicken tractor? Where’s your miles of fly paper everywhere I didn’t even see the buckets in this video. That one cow probably had 3000 flies all over him 300 of them were in his eyes poor thing.
