This movie was so bad my wife and I almost walked out. It wasn’t until afterwards I realized this was a story about a man with such an insane level of PTSD that he suffered 10 years (us almost 3 hours) of hallucinations. Still didn’t care for it. Acting was B-movie grade at best. Last 15 minutes was decent though.

    NEWS FLASH!!!!!!!!!!!

The Odyssey is massively front loaded and will suffer a HUGE 64% ticket sales drop off next weekend. The movie will struggle badly to reach the over $800 million breakeven Box Office number it needs. A huge drop off next weekend and then Spiderman will open the following weekend and nail the Odyssey's Box Office coffin shut.

It’s important to question the over-the-top adulation this undoubtedly entertaining movie is receiving. Nolan fans and reviewers seem to have no knowledge of Greek mythology or ancient history, so they confuse art with entertainment. Most who see it are only interested in being entertained, and I have no doubt that, when it comes to escapist entertainment, Nolan’s IMAX spectacle delivers. Especially if you like your ancient Greeks to speak like modern Americans. But those of us with a little more historical knowledge still can't believe that none of you fans give a damned about historical or even mythological authenticity. Without authenticity, this movie is transformed from Greek mythology set in the late Bronze Age into just another completely made-up, untethered fantasy. And *mythology is not fantasy*: it's a cultural expression grounded in a particular time and place, which means a historical setting. Nolan's Odyssey is a splendid entertainment, but, since it is so inauthentic, it's certainly not cinematic art, and thus no “masterpiece”.

Having just seen the movie I can instantly tell which reviews and "commentary" were written without seeing it. When I say it was not the movie I expected, I mean that in a very good way. It had heart and purpose to an extent I hadn't expected. The last act was just phenomenal.

I'm not giving it a perfect score. Christopher Nolan movies aren't always my preference, and there are some things about his overall style that I don't like. But I also can't deny his power and capacity as a film maker, and this was one of his best.

I saw The Odyssey on a standard movie theater screen at my local independent movie theater which is currently the only movie theater remaining in my nearest city. The AMC Classic 12 closed on April 30, 2026. I thought the movie was great but long. My ticket was only $6. I do not have any interest in paying $20 for an IMAX ticket.

Nolan himself said he wrote the Odyssey dialogue to be “emotional” and not intellectual. In other words, if youre intelligent this movie is not for you. But it is funny to see all the people who praise this movie out themselves as emotional and stupid.
    😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Nolan might be the first person in cinema history to have literally almost everyone against him prior to his movie release and produces a masterpiece that might gross over a billion dollars 😭
