ur story w the guitar is far too relatable. so much of "learning guitar" feels focused on learning how to play other people's songs which i'm just not as interested in. i have so many original melodies in my head i just really want to know how to play. so a lot of my guitar journey in the whopping 5 years i've been on and off messing around on it is just trying to play random chords to see if they match what i hear in my head lol. even improvising is more fun to me than learning a song. i guess all this doesn't help considering i'm self taught ofc lolll

Something my teachers would always tell me is its a lot harder to play well slowly than to play well fast. Given that both then and now, i can do neither well, i dont know how salient the advice is, but i can say that playing the swan was a LOT harder than when i managed to pull off a fuck ass arrangement of "i want to live in america" in my school string orchestra
