The part of the movie that IS shot in 1980s Miami? All those shots of Ocean Drive. I always tell people if you want to see South Beach before the late 1980s revival, watch the camera pan down to the car and back up to the apartment during the chainsaw scene and the background as they run from the apartment (the interior was shot in LA, I think).
To be fair to critics, that Cuban accent is AWFUL, so bad it’s almost offensive (and it hit me like that even before I moved to Miami.)

I think it is hilarious how many clueless dudes don't realize what a joke Tony is. They worship a huge loser. As soon as someone tells me Scarface is one of their favorite films, I start looking for an exit 🤣🤣

'You need people like me, so you can point your f'in fingers and say, “That’s the bad guy.” So, what that make you? Good? You’re not good. You just know how to hide. How to lie.'

This was no movie, it was a documentary!

I do still have the 2 VHS set I rented from 16k way back in the day. I didn’t want to get hit with that rewind fee and kept forgetting about it until it didn’t matter anymore. Lol

I was a young man when the movie came out and I went to see it with my best friend at the time. I clearly remember we were waiting on food at macdonalds after the movie and he said it was good but I don't understand why all the swearing and violence. I said dude he was a Cuban drug lord, it's part of the life and the character. he's not answering to his guilt from religion or answering to anybody as to the violence, he's a psychopath. That was the day I realized that many people can't go see a movie and leave their own reality outside. While he was thinking what is all this I'm watching, I was there in Miami and living with the life of Montana. I remember the same confusion watching the Last Temptation of Christ and speaking to the protestors. I said it's all fiction, as it would be if it was for example a movie showing and angel saving George Baily.

    "I TOLD YOU!….NO KIDS!!!!"
I remember seeing Scarface in the theaters multiple times. I must admit my nose has a few wild memories of the 80's too. (all better now of course, but crazy times nonetheless)

Thank goodness Montana isn't speaking in this video👏 Pacino has the worst Cuban accent in the history of Spanish; it sounds like he's trying to speak Spanish with a mouth full of Bubblicious😩

I want to believe that also the historic context mattered here – cocaine trafficking was flourishing and literally creating monster criminals in South America, specially in Colombia. I'm sure the lavishness of the life style of these mob bosses and crazy violence 'inspired' the movie. To centered it around a Cuban refuge was an interesting touch.
