It's an okay documentary but saying that ancient Greeks and Romans knew how to make plate armor and that this knowledge was lost due to the ignorance of the 'Dark Ages' is an utterly retarded misinformation that almost killed the whole thing for me.
Ancient Greeks and Romans did NOT know how to make steel plate armor period. Whoever wrote this script was thinking of ceremonial bronze cuirasses and had no idea what he was talking about.
It's also quite ironic to call Western Europe a 'technological backwater' for using chainmail when other cultures such as the always praised Islamic civilizations never used anything else than that and never adopted plate.
