I love Cracker Barrel with or without the logo. Who is it that was suddenly complaining about the logo. I haven’t heard anyone complaining about Cracker Jill.

The saddest truth is that the Target boycott did nothing to hurt the higher-ups in the company. All it served to do was hurt the employees at the store level, because how did they make up for that lost revenue? By cutting the hours of everyone who worked there that wasn't contracted salary (I went from 40 hours a week to 25 if I was lucky – which actually put my eligibility for the company health insurance at risk) and making those who were salaried work 60+ hour weeks for the same amount they made working 40 hours.

I actually enjoyed working there when I first started (not for the company culture but I've always been the sort who enjoys helping others and I loved my coworkers), but after that I ended up burning out fast due to being expected to do 8 hours' worth of work in 5 hours or less – often while trying to juggle at least two different areas of the store. I took another job that was a significant pay cut but I still end up making about the same as I did at the end due to my lowered hours. And now I have my sanity and can actually say I work for an establishment that truly does care about the community we serve.

Ok funny observation. Just watched the radioactive shrimp bit before this. And well Cracker Barrel to me has always been the alternative to the Diner with 80 page menu. I would describe the vibe as Hoarder Grandma's house when Grandma was born before 1925. Now it is hoarder grandma house when Grandma was born in 1950s or 60s.

Although it may be over the top, the strong sentiment for this situation is understandable.
Cracker Barrel's complete name is CRACKER BARREL OLD COUNTRY STORE. The restaurants are designed to simulate an old country shanty or "Cracker House"
Complete with wooden porches with country style rocking chairs for patrons to sit on and buy. The attached "COUNTRY STORE" sells all manner of products associated with bygone times like aluminum washboards, bottled soda, hand pulled saltwater Taffy, real maple syrup, cast iron cookware and cooking utensils, wooden crank turning ice cream makers with the appropriate ingredients like fresh cream. Rock salt etc.and all manner of implements that will transform a modern home into Little house on the Prairie. On the restaurant side, home style cooking staples like meatloaf and mashed potatoes, apple pie, chicken and dumplings.
The demographic tends to lean more toward middle class white seniors or families. On Sundays breakfast extends till noon and people go there before and after church. It's what the restaurant has come to signify for some people and families and any change to any part of that meaning is viewed as a personal slight. The logo is not really what upsets people, it's the idea that the values assigned through emotional connections are being ignored.

Target is headquartered in Minnesota, which is where the Black Lives Matter protests started. Target committing to support their actual community was a good thing. They committed to the spend to black communities/causes within a certain period of time.
Their self committed deadline for that giving was coming up. Trump came into office, and they used his hypothetical future pressure to drop their charity committment.
This is why we boycott them. They committed to investing directly in their own community. And then pulled the rug directly out of their local charities that had been doing work to prepare for the money that had been committed.
It was shameful. I used to buy at Target over other stores all the time. I haven't been back since.

while watching this I realized something. Josh Johnsons jokes are good, they make you laugh, make you feel good, but not blow the house down good. What makes his shows GREAT is he takes these good jokes and adds a stage presence of looks, movement, and timing that just elevates the show to the next level joke.

…. 58:31 …Corpration —literally — means: Working together . Not: Management installing systems and structures to rob and betray through tricks and manipulation.

Cracker Barrel lowered it's food quality…… people went for nostalgia. When it lost the nostalgia and kept the meh food….. people had no reason to go back.

As a mediator in NYC, I admire your instinct. For future reference, though, humans find it challenging to listen and be reasonable when in an escalated state like that. They need to bring their nervous systems down to neutral first. A breathing exercise might help…. But they need to be willing. You can’t do it for them. So thoughtful and kind of you to try though. ❤

My first thought was "who's 'we'?"

I'm not going to stop using Target because they tried a stupid marketing tactic. Companies do that all the time

With Cracker Barrel, I didn't jump to "white genocide"; that's stupid. Cracker Barrel is an old-timey resturaunt. Just let it be that. And that's all I got

As of November 2024, I have not been in target And only go into Walmart for the back to school supplies. Starbucks and Chick-fil- A is off my list. HobbyLobby only when they have a big sale on hinges I need and I only go into Walmart and HobbyLobby 4 times per year. I lost 20 lbs and gain $5,000 in my saving account.

Could that possibly be true? Target tried selling watermelon paper plates for Black History Month? I mean, watermelon paper plates in and of themselves are fine, but if they’re promoting as something for black history… !?! I’m assuming this was just a joke(?) Someone? Anyone?

I really would like to know how removing an old guy outlined in BROWN on a YELLOW background is somehow an erasure of WHITE people? I swear some white people just go looking for things to complain about. (yes I am white but my goodness.)
