Fred Durst Pays Tearful Tribute to Limp Bizkit’s Sam Rivers

Rock Feed | March 12, 2026

Yesterday, the rock world was shaken by the heartbreaking news of Limp Bizkit bassist Sam Rivers’ untimely passing. A founding member of the band, Sam’s influence reached far beyond the stage — touching the hearts of fans and peers across the world.

Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst shared an emotional and deeply personal tribute, recalling the moment he first met Sam and how their friendship and musical chemistry helped shape one of the most influential rock bands of the late ’90s and early 2000s. From their humble beginnings in Jacksonville, Florida, to rocking stadiums worldwide, Fred’s words remind us just how special Sam was — a true legend with unmatched talent, humility, and heart.

Was it because of any of those 2021 latent vaccinations??? We have to be aware so many SADS incidents have happened due to those jabs and med interventions!!

    This left me speechless 😢
I'd understand if they do, but I hope they won't cancel their current tour; we all will support him and the band on stage 😢😢😢😢

Yes. Very good those guys. Created artwork with genuine Talent that stood with it.
I was doing Roof Construction at the time and that Band was great to hear with the Philly and South Jersey radio stations.
Break Stuff – only thing is for Me..they locked me up more than a few times. I was just Working my Ass Off and the whole system didn't know why I was really Penned up. But my brother's Ex-wife knows why for some reason. Jeezus..Anchora in Camden was the Absolute Worst. Can't believe I lived when she was trying to Kill Me that bad

Pretty interesting but probably not surprising that there was absolutely zero mention of Borland in that story Fred gave lol
Some how I don't think they are that close even after all this time lol

Eternally grateful I got to see them live at least once . They were and are a defining moment in time . Regardless of what the critics and cornballs have to say they made incredible music that resonated with ALOT of people and Sam Rivers contributed immensely to that . Incredible bassist and awesome dude . Will be forever missed, rest in peace Sam Rivers .

Speaking as a bassist, the foundation does start in the rhythm section as Fred says. In my experience from being in bands many years, that foundation goes way beyond the musical spectrum. There’s the integral part of that structure that says a lot about the people that make that part of the music happen. They’re usually the peacekeepers and soothsayers of the bands. They’re the glue. My heart goes out to Fred and Limp for the loss of their brother Sam. As a fellow bassist that loved this band and many others of this era – my heart is broken. Much love to everyone that read this far ✌️

Oh man. 😢. Big hugs and my thoughts and prayers out to the band. Fred, you’re an amazing guy even with the tough exterior. We know you’ve got a heart and soul and the music proves that. Your speech and homage paid to Sam was extremely heartfelt. My deepest condolences to you and the band and the family rest in peace Sam Rivers. ❤

This is a hard hit and just so shocking that I'm trying to choose to remember Sam in a happy, upbeat and positive way instead of letting the immense sadness take over and that's just what I think that he wouldn't have wanted. He would want us,me , everyone to celebrate and honor and enjoy the music that he created and to crank those unique jams , enjoy the good times and memories. So I'm not perfect but I'm going to try and do just that and play as much Limp Bizkit as I can and of course as loud as I possibly can and do so with a smile on my face and think about the memories of that music and how it played in my life. Prayers and thoughts are with the band and the Rivers family during this time and to the fans that are doing the same thing I am, remembering and celebrating a really talented, unique, friendly and just all around great person who will be missed and loved but never forgotten!!!!!

Sounds like universal records took him out. They want to keep their 200 million it sounds like. Every artist that goes against record labels gets taken out.
    mysteriously or dies by "suicide"
Fred you need to be carefull
Lawsuit said it was filed in october 2024. 1 year after the ball was rolling so it doesnt point any fingers to the record label owners. How convient
