A lot of drinks are still sold in glass in Germany, there's also 3rd type of bottles – reusable sturdy plastic bottles, they are thick and can be used as a bludgeon weapon in a pinch

In my country you get 20 cents for each can or plastic bottle that you recycle, that is however factored in to the price of all cans and plastic bottles.

i love paper straws, i love having to quickly inhale my drink without being able to enjoy it cause if i take too long, the straw turns into sludge and i have to pay for another one

The whole cap thing is a pretty common source of misinformation about its purpose. It's not about recycling, infact it is detrimental to recycling since usually different materials are used for those which need to be separated. The attached cap regulation (like the plastic straw one) is the result of a study researching litter and pollution in european beaches, oceans and other natural areas. They classified the type of litter, and these are attempts to reduce the most common ones. Bottle caps are one of the most common, because even if the bottle is trashed correctly the cap often ends up in nature. And since plastic recycling is as bad as you depicted this was considered a worthwhile tradeoff of littering vs recyclability.

our world was actually beautiful when I was kid. but now, the more I learn about how our government operates, how corporations conduct business, and how they both completely control our lives. the more I feel that humanity is wrong to live here and our society needs to be burnt down and destroyed.

I've been telling this to people for years. Not because I knew all this from fact, or Coca-Cola started it. But because it felt oh so obvious. Also, the drink and carbonation quality is held better in glass bottles.
And how is it our fault the companies make more plastic? Sell it low quality, ugly, overpriced recycled plastics like apple and Samsung.
Now, plastic bottles come I. Super short caps that are impossible to grasp and bottles so thin they'll crumble as you hold it to open the bottle.
And degradable plastic bags? They cause un-cleanable mess behind. And I use plastic bags from groceries to take out trash, so nothing is thrown unused. Plastic bottles? I use them to make reusable ice packs or big ice blocks.
Heck, I used plastic better than they do!

Also because plastic is basically free raw material, new one is even cheaper than recycled one. This is why they don’t even care about recycling plastic because it won’t save them any money, the government should force them to get rid of their own plastic tbh the amount you produced each year as a quota should be good.

About paper straws, straws are also a big need for disabled people with limited hand dexterity. But paper straws turn in to mush and are basically unusable, there are so much better options of how to limit pollution.

The only benefit to plastic bottles is you can drop them with zero risk. Cans will crack, glass will shatter. Plastic just… exists… No risk of lost product if a pallet deconstructs. No accidental spills because your hand slipped.

This year Zagrebs christmas market sponsor was coca cola and they were braging about recycling, a joke. People had to rent out mugs for 4 euros even though every pice of food they ate was in a plastic take away container lol. The only green thing there was greenwashing.
