nissan execs rejected the offer because they'd lose their heads immediately after acquisition. honda wouldn't have wanted redundant leadership. nissan's garbage execs chose to tank the company rather than be out of a job

Why don't they made cars send to Canada around the world. In Canada we have not enough cars when buy cars here in Canada you get to wait about 1 and half year

If Nissan doesnt own the cost of their faulty CVTs up to something extreme like 200k miles, they are done. They have broken the trust of consumers and saddled them with lemons for more than a decade and still they keep using the same unreliable CVT. I am happy to see them circle the drain

One factor you failed to mention is that the high price of the yen hurt Japan's export of automobiles, and I believe was a large factor in the rise of sales by Korean manufacturers in the US and elsewhere. That same constriction likely impaired Japanese automobile manufacturers' research and development efforts. Toyota's Prius does continue to remain very popular in the United States and Honda is slated to introduce two very interesting looking BEV's next year. As a long term fan of Honda and Toyota automobiles, I am rooting for them to bring their high quality of design and manufacturing to the EV space.

Toyota is not making evs not because they can't, they know what people want, they're not stupid. Their future is bright, unlike ford making evs and losing 5 bln a year 🤡

Once the true economic and environmental disaster of EVs becomes more apparent, coupled with the fragile power grid, the common sense of small, cheap, efficient, easy-to-repair, much-longer-lasting gas-powered vehicles will also become apparent.

Honda will make it. They’re seen as the little brother of Toyota as being just as reliable and also just as diversified with their hybrid fleet.

Nissan is the odd one out that is seen as not reliable as the other two and will probably die out. Congrats on Honda for not merging.

Isn't it convenient that the "electrification" data stops as sales DRAMATICALLY slowed. Hybrids are more likely to be the future. The grid simply cannot handle the amount of power needed to power most vehicles electrically! As demand for power increases, prices will go up causing people to revert back to hybrid/ gas powered vehicles. Everyone i know who said they would buy electric the nect time either bought a gas vehicle or a hybrid.

The Nissan Leaf is trash. Short-sided cost cutting (like no active thermal management or standard heat pumps) made them the worst non-Chinese EV. Just like cost cutting produced the worst CVT in the market. It makes zero sense to buy a Nissan over better brands.

Bullshit nonsense. EV popularity is declining big time. Its either convential or hybrid. Big problem as i look for a new car is supply. They still have not met up with demand. This video is typical nonsense by an elitist know it all.

You need to look into the role that The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan is playing behind the scenes in order to see a bigger picture of this merger. An utter failure nonetheless.

There was this guy who put his life savings of 100k in lithium, becoming a millionaire with a 10 bagger, which he never told his family. He was gonna keep holding as he thought lithium prices were gonna increase even more as EV becomes the future. Now he is back to 100k. I wonder how he is doing

Nissan failure because of their CVT and general lack of QC. They also betting on a saturated SUV market which btw they haven’t had a clue on how to approach it.

As a Toyota owner and Tesla investor for over a decade, I agree with the vast majority of what you said. I wish Toyota had more fully EV options. If Toyota doesn't make EV's Tesla and Chinese competitors will decimate them in all major markets. It seems like there are a lot of people in the comments that need to watch this video again.

To understand Japanese Auto Companies and EV, look at Sony and their refusal to adopt MP3 player.

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Toyota et al will only move once they lost it all.

It's feel weird talking about EVs lately, where are all the talks about PHEV? And also new models of PHEV? As a commuter, they might as well be EV but for long road trips they have great mileage. It make sense for both CAFE-compliance and a way to deal with range-anxiety.

It wasn't Japan as a whole the ones who optimized production, it was Toyota specifically who reengineered manufacturing, the Toyota Production System is still taught in universities as an example of how you produce in mass right.

All this happened because they got rid of Carlos with fraudulent charges because he was attempting to merge it with Renault and focus on hybrid and EVs
