My friend would were heels to work everyday (dunkin/BR combo) n they helped him at work to move faster n just skate across the place. It was kinda fun y to watch him just skate up to the register

I am a very overprotective mother (well, with my daughter I was, not so much my sons) and I got her many pairs of Heeley’s she was AMAZING! 2008 she was 8 and Heeley’d all over the mall, Target and the grocery store. She never had a single accident. Parents need to chill out a little bit. I’m a Gen Xer and our parents were very different with us. Ya gotta let your kids be kids and fall and get scratched up and get back up and do it all over again.

Don’t read this if you don’t like long-ish stories

I went to my niece’s place for, like a day or smt and we always got along really well that if we weren’t related and still knew each other our relationship would be almost the same. Also, something you should know we were like a year or less apart because of some weird stuff in the roots of the family tree. It was really cold, and there was ice on the road, so we decided to crush that ice and make “snowballs”. We made two before some of her friends came and one of them had heelys and just destroyed the snowballs and I chased him around cuz I had some minor anger issues(still do but I’m better now) and I ended up swearing revenge on him.

The fact this involved practice is hysterical. Heeleys are silly sure, but completely intuitive. Or so i thought lmao.

I had Heeleys as a kid and I’d always assumed kids were getting injured cuz they were wearing a wheeled shoe trying to do other stuff like climb across rooftops or jumping down a flight of stairs. But after this video i realize some people were just straight up too uncoordinated for them.

I always felt like the most dangerous part was forgetting you were standing on a wheel, not actually the act of heely-ing itself.

I had heelys but never got the hang of them. I got about as good as you did but it wasn't practical for going anywhere and we had to take the wheels out during school. So I ended up just wearing them as sneakers for most of the time I had them

Once you learn how to use heelys, you never forget. It’s like riding a bike. I had a pair when I was 8. Im 28 now and just picked up a pair the other day and was able to ride as if I’ve been using them daily

Seeing how hard it was for Gabi to use these correctly is insane because I was literally 7 and learned how to use them the same day I got them almost immediately

i’m a weird kid growing up in australia and i still wear heelys out to the square (mall) every now and then dispite being in year ten. i never knew it died out, i thought they were still lowkey cool ☹️ i actually wore a pair to comicon lastyear as a very important part of my rainbow dash cosplay, made transport around the place easier but oh my lawd, my heels were in so much pain by the end of it, the wheels aren’t comfortable walking on for hours on end.

As a skateboarder i can tell you that the regulars at the skatpark wouldve instantly had a problem with you holding onto the rail , because people woulve been trying to skate that 😂

I wore Heelys everyday from 2008 to 2012 and the only injuries I sustained was falling on my ass once the first day I got em and a couple of scraped knees went through like 3 pairs before I grew too big to fit em and that's the only reason I stopped wearing them was I couldn't find any in my size

I did the exact same thing in 2022. I stopped using mine after giving it the college try, not easy to use at all. They are very uncomfortable shoes, cheap material as well. I used them for work shoes without the wheels. 3 months and the glue failed and separated from the base. I really don't think I was rough on them or my work, it could have been winter, but I have had skate shoes in the winter without these issues.

I had a high sneaker platform one from my grandma from US, I don't remember the brand but it was sooo spice girls core in 00s. I wore it in school

…I took FAR worse falls ice skating than I ever did in heelys lol. And I wore heelys both throughout middle school, AND while I was at NYU later. And I'm not even a skater at all, my main sport was fencing from like 12 to 18. So literal skill issue on the injuries.

I think the big thing about heelys is just that they legit don't work on most normal sidewalks. These shoes require SUCH umblemished surfaces, there was no way you could use them for the casual everyday niche they were trying to hit. Like you said, these aren't full gear sorts of deals. These were meant to be cool things that you wear to shorten the travel time from your dorm to your class, except they only worked once you got inside the buildings because no sidewalk is pristine enough to support these insanely TINY wheels. So yeah, ultimately they're even less practical than a full on skateboard.

I think I got 3 different pairs of heelys as a kid into young teen and I was so good at them. I grew out of them so I got another pair and then again did that. I was in love with them. I could spin and switch which foot was in front omg thinking back I want some now. I’m 23 and I’m confident I could kill it😂😂💀💀I love roller skating as an adult and it’s cause I loved heelys

To first begin learning, start with only one wheel in front and push yourself along, eventually you get bored, want to go faster, and get sick of looking silly. The other foot comes very naturally after then. Also-
PSA: gotta grind the heels down on a fresh pair of standard heelys, cant really do much when you have to keep your front foot near horizontal, a good tilt up is the way to go. Find a hill with rough asphalt you wont trip on and start braking/grinding away the material behind the wheel

I'm very sorry to say this but you have successfully convinced me I need to buy a pair with my adult money cuz my mother wouldn't buy me one 20 years ago. ty. if I break my back or ass its your fault.
