Lost media has become a bit of an obsession on the internet, and it’s easy to see why when you consider some of these bizarre and insane stories that were captured on film. But alas, there are some that have been lost to time, and here’s some of them.

With the wrestling accident, I have to wonder if it may have been accidentally broadcast in some locales, like they sent their promo tape to all the networks carrying them, but some of them missed the cue. Seems like the kind of thing that could happen with a live broadcast using analog equipment. I remember in the 90s sometimes broadcasters would make mistakes and put out some dead air or static or something, a teacher of mine who had worked at a TV station told me that when that happened it was just someone getting distracted and missing a cue.

I'd guess that if you were a psychological researcher and requested to see the basement tapes for genuine academic reasons you may be allowed to see them; but generally I agree with not releasing them for the morbid entertainment of the masses, the people who lost their kids that day don't need to be seeing that on their SM feeds every day for a year after the release.

you'd think that maybe people would at this point realize "training" animals and making them live like your own workere for you to make money is just WRONG… they're free living beings who need to live the way they want to live which shockingly is usually not that much daily work for human entertainment

The internet wants to see it because… HOW does someone die of stingray???

We all know how it happens with sharks, vending machines, cars, etc. No one has ever seen death by stingray. Like you said, 20 people since 1945.

That bear tape leaked years back unless it was a fake. But, I remember the comments talking about it being their voices. It was on Bestgore before Mark shut down the site.

Having been to Kemper Arena in KC to see WWF?E when it was big and still living only 10 minutes from it… Owen Hart's story is insane and was just common knowledge for all around the city.

The Doctor Who Christmas episode is one that is pretty much "yeah, that's gone-GONE". The exception that has no chance of being found is "The Feast of Stephen", an episode in the middle of a 12 episode story which they realized would air on Christmas that they didn't bother sending out because it was a Christmas episode that probably would no longer air on Christmas and was a complete non-sequitur with the ongoing storyline. So, it was junked at the BBC, but never got sent out, so there's not a chance of an old copy of it hiding in some Nigerian basement.

It should be noted that Owen Hart was in fact not in the main event the night he died. This is mainly important only because it highlights the fact that Vince McMahon chose to go on with the show after the accident.

This video reminds me. Does anyone remember that episode of Spongebob when they, Spongebob and Squidward, had to deliver the pizza and got stuck in this dimension of doors and Spongebob lost Squidward? I remember seeing it when I was little, but I’ve never heard anyone else talk about it

I should mention that Spongebob did end up finding Squidward. He opened a door and there was Squidward in the doorway, eyes wide like he just saw a man get shot. I remember feeling utterly terrified

44:30 That is incorrect but it'a not your fault. Its a tricky legal situation.

Under German law cannibalism falls under defilement of a human corpse. Along with that he was tried for murder. The initial court only sentenced him to eight years for manslaughter but he was later sentenced to life; note that in Germany if you are tried for multiple crimes you are only getting one sentence for the toughest crime, and since he also killed his victim it didn't really matter that cannibalism isn't a crime of its own.

The more interesting legal debate was on wether or not the victim had willfully consented – in which case the highest punishment could have been 5 years – and if he had killed for sexual motives.

The first question was unilaterally declined: The victim suffered from 'self destruction fantasies' and thus wasn't able to consent. The second question – which is the reason this case was tried and retried three times in total – determined wether or not his behaviour constituted manslaughter or murder. The difference, under German law, doesn't lie in wether or not the killing is planned but how and why it is commited. Killing for sexual gratification always constitutes murder. The punishment for murder is always a life sentence. The initial court decided that he hadn’t killed for sexual reasons. The final ruling disagreed, as there was proof he had rewatched the footage and pleasured himself to it. It's a key decision you learn about in German law school because then the BGH (supreme court for criminal law) decided that killing with the intention of later deriving sexual pleasure from the footage also constituted murder.
So as gruesome as it is, its actually a kind of fascinating case from a legal perspective. And not for the reasons you might think.

that orca didn't just "lash out", he had been abused for most of his life and was sick of it all. he'd been stolen from his pod and forced to live in a glorified fish tank in the dark while the other orcas that lived with him attacked him.
