Jimmy Kimmel Live | September 6, 2025

Matty talks about all of the awards “The Bear” has won, being a chef but not wanting to play one on the show, helping all of the other actors with how to work in a kitchen, having a very romantic moment with Ebon Moss-Bachrach at the Emmys, learning how to be an actor, all of the crazy things that happen in restaurants, and burning his foot during service.

I found Matty during my Post-Army life, drinking and youtubing trying to find myself. And seeing him from Just a Dash to this is exactly what I wanted for him. I remember all of us wanting him to be an obscure [as] show that would be hilarious, we never would have expected he would get to this level. I love it, he, and all of those around him deserve this greatness! I am sure Master Rang, Michelle and "DJ Sound Guy!" are proud of him. I am super excited for Just a Dash Season 3.

He is the most lovable character on the show. He’s the comic relief amid the stress. I had no idea he’s an actual chef and restaurateur. I’ll have to check him out. The Bear is a fantastic show!

Speaking to his comment on movement… There's a phrase every cook knows… "if you can lean, you can clean" which means if you have time to take a momentary break, then you have time to clean up and that should be your focus. So there is a concept of never stopping… The only time Chef's understand breaks is for a cigarette, which is basically a stress/anger management tool in kitchens.

From my experience in kitchens the walk-ins have safety measures so you don't get locked in. I imagine they came about from companies getting sued from line cooks freezing to death in walk in freezers.
