How Charles Bradley Turned Pain Into Love
Pain and tragedy were no stranger to Charles Bradley, who struggled throughout his life to find his footing yet never gave up on his dreams of being a musician. At age 62, he released his debut album, “No Time For Dreaming.” Over the next 5 years, he recorded 3 more, the final being released after he passed in 2017. Known as the Screaming Eagle of Soul, this is the story of Charles Bradley.

I wrote this comment on another video last night, but I think reposting it on this video is appropriate:
I had the honor of meeting him and filming his set when he came to Tallahassee, he was such a gentle and kind soul. He lived such a hard life and still just wanted to spread love, even to a random stranger like me. I was so happy for him finally getting the recognition he deserved and the support to grow as an artist. To share his own story and finally get back the same kind of love, joy, and hope he tried to give to the world. It breaks my heart that after 62 years full of struggle he only had 5 or 6 years to truely live his dream.
F*** cancer! and f*** The Reaper too!
I can only hope The Screaming Eagle of Soul is finally flying free from the pains of this world.
RIP, C.B.❤

I heard him singing Changes yesterday and it touched my heart so deeply. I knew he was holding so much hurt, knowledge, pain, things most can't even believe possible . If he isn't an example of what we should be then Im not looking any more

Great video, love learning about a legend like this. I had changes in one of my playlists forever but never knew the history of the man behind it.

Charles Bradley is such a strong man. His life story is tragic, and of course you feel great that at the end of his life he got to live his dream and got the recognition he deserved, but its still tragic in the fact that he only got to live that life for 6 years before his untimely passing. I discovered Charles in 2018 and was destroyed when I learned his story and that he was already gone from all of us.

I haven't yet gone down the Charles Bradley rabbit hole, but I need to. I love Daptone and all their Subsidiary labels. The closest thing I have to Charles Bradley is The Sha La Das LP, I believe they where his backing band and their album is amazing if you haven't heard them. RIP to Mr. Bradley
