We saw the total eclipse over Hawaii in 1991. Thousands of people traveled to the part of the island that is normally clear. We were broke that day so we were stuck in town, Kona, where we lived. The morning started out cloudy as forecasted. We did not expect to see it but headed down to the pier to check anyway. Minutes before totality the clouds opened up for us. For the next six minutes plus we were in awe of the spectacle. It did not get dark like night, more like an overcast morning, or a stormy day. Not much difference. However it happened for us at 8:30am, the sun had just risen over the volcano that towers over Kona, so maybe that's why we didn't notice much of a change. Kona was a literal ghost town everyone had headed north. Those people ended watching it on TV at one of the local resorts because it was too cloudy at the recommended viewing areas and never cleared, alot having spent their life savings for this event. There was alot of disappointed people. For us it was pure Magic and we only had to walk a few blocks to view it. Good luck, Mother Nature will ultimately decide…

Outstanding interview, def learned a lot, particularly about the cloud clearing phenomena & how the moon shadow cools the surface (doesn’t work over water) which temporarily suspends the warm moist updraft cycle on shallow cumulus clouds but with the merging jetstreams from multiple moisture sources tmrw will make several layers (high cirrus, mid stratus & low cumulus)

You have a whole team and a producer but still make something that looks like it was filmed with a potato? 😂 At least we all know who NOT to hire for video production. That pan shot nearly made me sick to my stomach, I couldn’t watch more than 10 seconds🤮
