What Victor Wooten Taught Me About Wrong Notes

92.9 The Torch | January 17, 2025

Why do musicians worry so much about playing wrong notes? Many musicians, especially those who begin improvising with jazz, worry about playing wrong notes. However, there’s no need to worry about playing wrong notes in music.

In this video, I use the example of playing the guitar to show how we can resolve any wrong notes into something that sounds right. When people think of music theory, they often think of notes, but music theory is about so much more than just notes, especially when it comes to playing the guitar.

If we approach playing from a perspective of being musical, there’s no need to worry about playing the wrong note, because they will still sound musical.
