Cline is Professor of Classics and Anthropology, the former Chair of the Department of Classical and Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations, and the current Director of the Capitol Archaeological Institute at The George Washington University, in Washington DC. He is a National Geographic Explorer, a Fulbright scholar, a Getty scholar, an NEH Public Scholar, and an award-winning teacher and author. He has degrees in archaeology and ancient history from Dartmouth, Yale, and the University of Pennsylvania; in May 2015, he was awarded an honorary doctoral degree (honoris causa) from Muhlenberg College.

This is the Western pattern:
Rewrite.
Repaint.
Repackage.
Erase the original and sell the replacement.
Rome becomes “Byzantium.”
Rhomaioi become “Greeks.”
A Greek saint becomes a Christmas mascot.
Frankish kings become “Roman emperors.”
It’s not history — it’s cultural Photoshop passed off as scholarship.
The West didn’t rewrite history — they hijacked it, whitewashed it, and sold the knockoff as the original.

I saved this video to my Bible playlist because it gives great historical background to the allegedly historical books of the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament). The context is intensely geopolitical and not entirely familiar to us and so it makes the OT mentions just so much gibberish. The OT book by Lawrence Boadt is helpful too. And the Great Adventure Bible Timeline study.

This comment section is evidence that we are far closer to collapse than even this man thinks. The next collapse will the worst collapse in history due to our dependence on crude oils.
We are extremely complex and extremely fragile as a global civilization. And the individuals who have the most money in the world are the ones to steer the ship of civilization. They have all made their proverbial lifeboats (bunkers or massive secured compounds for instance) and are steering civilization into a precipice. They are forcing a reset, and they know the numbers will drastically decline to a far more manageable size when the dust settles.
At our current human capacity, renewable energy still requires tremendous amounts of nonrenewable energy to even break even, which is not sustainable. Fewer people has always been the goal.
Because our system is so complex and fragile, a collapse could happen extremely fast; it could all dissolve in a year, which is why I think collapse will happen before 2033. There are a number of irreversible problems that are converging on collapse simultaneously. It could happen from any angle, or all angles. Everyone should prepare accordingly.

Interesting topic with well-backed arguments. However, the recording lacks life and the set up is wrong for the speaker. A discussion between a panel of experts would've broken the endless treadmill narrative of one presenter reading his own script. The XXL silk shirt with the hieroglyph tie under the shapeless dinner jacket belong in the muppet show – not a sharp forensic analysis of new historical findings. Or go with the fireside chat on the couch, a curled up hunting dog and snow at the windows – sipping on a hot coffee… at least we could look at the window from time to time.

I'm afraid the current wars in the Middle East, specifically Iran, will trigger a collapse. If more than a fifth of the world's energy and fertilizer supply is cut off or reduced for years, we will have horrible global supply chains shocks and famines. Couple that with mass migrations from the Middle East into Europe and from Central America into North America and things start looking even less stable. Then we have huge wealth inequality across most of the world but especially in the modernized western world causing mounting social unrest. This doesn't even look at the various climate based catastrophes we will face from global warming and AI integration.
