For some reason the second story jet the inflatable reminded me of that scene in the movie Nope where the alien sucks in the humans. The claustrophobia those people must’ve felt is unimaginable while not fully knowing that was happening.

Jesus, Elaine's tapes were so hard to watch. OF COURSE her children should have never been harmed but few understand what can happen when someone endures prolonged psychological, financial, emotional and physical abuse. Her ex was a violent piece of shit, and I'm sure he was just as abusive during the court filings. That woman needed SEVERE mental health support. She wasn't thinking in reality at that point clearly – she was likely in a psychotic state. I do believe she loved her children. What a horror story.

as someone who came from an abusive upbringing, the one thing that made me on guard immediately with Elaine was the "how much do you love mommy" question being asked a lot here and something I remember being asked too oddly frequently when I was very young, its like a desperate need for confirmation of attachment from people who know that because of their behaviour the attachment is actually being slowly eroded so they have to confirm it constantly to feel okay with themselves
