We tend to assume that if a story is being covered by major news networks, it’s because journalists have decided that the story is important. But thanks to Fox News, that’s not always true.

The network was specifically created to generate scandals that would hurt Democrats and help Republicans. And because most major networks pay attention to what happens in conservative media, those pseudoscandals end up creeping into mainstream coverage.

The result is a media ecosystem that advantages Republicans by paying disproportionate attention to right-wing talking points.

    There is a way around this (other than a left leaning network), take a page from the Fox News playbook-cover the controversy. Report it, but tell people up front what is going around isn't true.

    Please update with how Citizens United ties into this. Namely, by allowing billionaires to massively overpay for ads during segments where 'mainstream' media covers right wing media, and so denying that gravy train for normal stories..

    Hate to say it,
    but your whole country still hasn't shaken off the legacy of the religious fanatics that first sailed to settle in the Americas
    Im not anti religious, but it's clear to a lot of Europeans that hating others and feeling superior to anyone not adhering to your narrowly set morality is your national passtime
    It doesn't help that there are only two parties, a situation which promotes the kind of fanaticism usually reserved for sports teams in Europe
    There has never been a greater divide, and polarization, and this is due to machinations from the Liberals, engineered to widen that gap, but those only work where they find fertile ground
    it has always been impossible to be a moderate in the US (heck, centrist is even a bad word) and imo the main factor in US politics is exceptionalism that also informs the views of the majority on poverty as a moral failing

    There is a charicature in secular european nations of the religious person as defiantly arrogant, stubbornly selfcentered with nothing but contempt for people who are not religious, not because of ideology but as a way to feel superior
    People that value being seen as righteous, more than actually being right – sound familiar?

    It was a terror attack. Hillary tried to spin as a spontaneous uprising but later admitted that it was Al Qaeda. She was grilled about that.

    So, if Rep. Omar didn’t wrongfully trivialize 9-11 for saying "some people did something," does that mean Trump gets a pass for his "there were good people on both sides" remark after the tragedy at Charlottesville?

    Trump and Omar are elected officials, invested with power and public trust upon taking an oath. They should both be held to higher standards than private citizens.

    And like MSNBC wasn't all over Trump's "both sides" comment.

    I see what you mean… worthless never-ending "investigations" which only serve to present misinformations as hypothesis or opinions and repeat it again and again and again and again… Hunter Biden's laptop, twitter files, Biden stealing billions tax payers money, FBI "corruption", the 2020 stolen elections with all voter fraud imaginable, …
    Fox News is really a powerful force used for evil purposes by unethical conservative -__-
