I just discovered your channel a few hours ago and I'm so glad I did! I'm pretty sure I haven't even gotten deeper into the cool side of YouTube yet but I think your channel may have been the first step! Keep doing what you do 😀

I think as long as you live you will continue to have the "what I want to do with my life" there shouldn't be just one thing we have to do forever. I don't care if you're 60 if you're still searching, keep on and ask for direction and dip and dive into what you can. I believe no one will ever have it ALL figured out and that's okay.

My boyfriend and I have been listening to your videos via aux cord while driving around running errands, it's like listening to a very intelligent, interesting radio show. We love you.

I feel like it would be easier if I had a different personality.  I love trying new things and exploring my options, but I have had the worst time trying to find a passion, and if I am not passionate about something, I get bored and quit (or fail) pretty quickly.  On top of this, I have a major lack of confidence when it comes to anything that may involve leadership or responsibility, and a lot of my interests are in things that involve one of those… I try to get past this, but it's like this irrational fear almost, and so far I haven't been able to.  I'm 26, so I do have time to start something if I find it, but I feel like if I can't find something soonish I may never.  For now I'll just keep looking for work and doing what I can to make myself a better person.

I lucked out and wound up doing what I've always loved, but I complete agree with what you said. There are so many limits and deadlines that people feel that they have to make split-level decisions, which usually ruin their lives. Everybody gets to their destination at a different time; just let them figure things out their own pace.

I'm probably one of the very few of my age who know exactly what they want to do with their lives. I WANT to have a job in the film industry. I want to either be involved with production, or film editing. I've felt that way since I was 14, I'm now 22, and I still feel that way.

    Ummmmmm……
Can this man see me? How does he know my life? I was a cashier at CVS who took up a knitting class. Speak to me Mr.Janitor. I shall learn intently.

Right on dude. I am a 22 y/o with no clue, but I gotta tell you I tried the oil change thing, and that would not be something I would ever recommend. Everything at the shop gives you cancer. My coworkers were all ignorant white people, and you get burnt from exhaust manifolds and hot oil shooting in your face.

A bit naive and college is mentioned too often. That tells me that your audience are those who do not have to struggle too much. The majority of people I have known in my 60 years did  not have many choices. If one has cash for college then fine, go. But only a fool would borrow for college. If a person's dreams are realized it is usually because of the person in charge of that game that allowed it. Positive thinking along with all the other tired old beliefs and old sayings have no basis in reality. The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese.
Have fun when you are young but don/t be fool.
The best advice I did not hear at the right time was from Mark Twain. He said "Plan well for your old age, you are going to spend the rest of your life in it"
The only person who will believe your lies is you so give that up. Learn a few skills, read a lot and forget TV. If you own a mirror then yes you do care what people think. Do not question the Bill of Rights, it is all you have. Exercise your Rights. Whatever is important to you will not matter in a hundred years to anyone. If you get married and have children remember that divorce is child abuse. Learn transactional analysis. Everything in moderation, never talk to police. Learn about sociopaths, they are everywhere…

Good advice. One great thing about attending a good college or university is it's ability to expose you to the variety of the world. That does not always translate to post graduate success or a debt free life.  However, it is almost impossible to find a concentrated group of complete strangers from all over the world who are somewhat immediately endeared to you because of geographical location. Higher education often provides cheap global travel to places you didn't even know existed, and ( as terrible and  weird as it sounds) it is one of the safest places to experiment with drugs.   I was going to delete that last part, but it's true.

I'm 25, and I'm a year away from getting my B.A. in Psychology. Whenever I tell someone my major, the response is usually something along the lines of,"Don't you want to make money?" or "Don't you have to get your Ph.D to get any money?" My response is something along the lines of I know I can do what it takes to get by, and psychology is something I'm very passionate about. I want to teach, I'm pretty sure I want to do clinical work, and maybe research. One person said,"But you won't even get out of school until you're almost 30, and then you still have to get licensed." So? What should I do? Become an engineer like everyone else is trying to do, even though that doesn't interest me at all? I want a career that's fulfilling, and something I am passionate about. I am still unsure about a lot of things, but I am certain about one thing: this is the right path for me, right now. If made a huge mistake, well, mistakes are only mistakes in retrospect. I know several successful people who went through college and ended up going into a career that wasn't even related to their major. If I end up doing something else, I can look back know I likely wouldn't have ended up where I would be without doing what I am now.

I like the fact that you encourage people to give themselves a break on this issue.  However, this society is completely invested into pigeon-hole-ing and corralling people to fit their corporate and other personal needs. It is ENTIRELY possible, for that reason, that a person could get to be 50 or 60 and not know what they REALLY love. After decades of living in survival mode, a person can totally loose sight of even the possibility of being drawn to something from deep within.  They can still feel bad about it and not really know why and just be unhappy as a result.

That might be where alzheimers and dimenture come from ( I believe I misspelled those conditions. oh well).

I'm back in school for the third time in my life and I'm 29. I've just finished my first set of exams and I'm not sure I still want to do this. The things I have consistently wanted in life seem contradictory: to live off publishing novels, to have three kids, to travel, to buy a house, to be financially independant from my partner, to continue living with him.

So when I get a bit panicky about all this, I think of my dad: he quit school at sixteen and moved to England (he didn't speak a word of English), got a job waiting tables, went back to school, learnt hotel management and was just about to finish his Master's when he changed his mind and became a modern languages high school teacher instead. Then we moved countries again, he taught a bit, then started up a boxing club, and got another job working in a homeless shelter. That was about ten years ago, when he was in his early 40's. So yeah, follow your dreams – but don't panic if you don't know what those dreams are yet, or if they change along the way. Life isn't a straight road, that's the point. Enjoy the journey.

I'm on my second year of a degree in Fine Art, thinking of studying to be a secondary school art teacher after graduation, but will continue to pursue my hobby in photography on the side 🙂

I wanted to design games. Unfortunately when I went to college that I went to everyone and their mother wanted to be a designer, a field known for having very few openings at the time. I instead went for Game Programming (very different, far more openings, higher pay) and I barely passed the programming classes that I had. Ended up screwing me up because I'm a pretty bad programmer and now I'm unemployed with 87k in debt, live with my parents, and I have a hernia I can't afford to fix because I don't have medical insurance I've had it more than a year now. I'm 26.

At this point I'm fairly disillusioned and I mostly just want out of the hole I'm in because it sort of sucks the life force out of me. Its like this dark cloud of anti-money floating around me and its pretty demotivating.

Suffice to say its also part of what made me a firm believer in libertarian socialism. I'm pretty cynical of the world and myself though. I have low expectations. lol I'm a downer. 😛
