The rise of the Internet in the late 90s coincided with the most popular period in pro wrestling The Attitude Era. As such, wrestling and early Internet culture are inextricably tied. This was expressed with South Park Wrestlers, Fan Sites and E-Feds, which were roleplaying organizations in which fans created or took on the persona of existing wrestlers. Concurrently, my friends and I were also playing play-by-mail wrestling in the IWA. I spent so much money over the years, but it was so much fun waiting for those league bulletins in the mail in high school.

Dynasty Wrestling was my e-fed. My wrestling name was Jet aka Mr. Millennium Jet 2000. I miss those days so much I was a little 12, 13 year old starting shit on the message boards and demolishing my roleplays. I did it from 2001 to 2006.

I used to play back in the day. Wow that brings back memories. I was my Fed's final International Champion. We actually had a final show so we didn't end up leaving things unfinished. Efed wrestling just lost it's luster. Especially with the improvement of character creation on the WWE Games.

Oh, believe me, I was in a number of e-Feds from 1995-99. My characters held many titles, and I tried my hand at a very short-lived fed as well. Some of these allowed you to re-use existing wrestlers, but the best required you to invent your own. Curiously, I re-connected with one of the guys who ran one of these – the Extreme Wrestling Association – on Facebook many years later. He's a cool guy! My main wrestler was named Viper, and when I saw Dave Batista years later, I said, "THAT'S what Viper was meant to look like." Just add a snake tattoo down one arm and that was Viper!

I joined an e-fed, but never heard of that term. Or the cross with South Park (And those first South Park pictures were what I remember).
I joined a fed where we sent in our promos & wfhoever the mods or site owners liked better (or, I guess, if they just liked the characters better). They had me jobbing & I asked the owner why they kept forcing me to lose, as they said it was based on promo strength. I thought mine were better, at least half the time & he said I had to "pay my dues", but it was corny to basically do English homework, all to lose every time.

E-Feds still exist nowadays. The difference is the people running them use the actual wrestling video games so there's visuals. Like Video Game Championship Wrestling.
But as both an avid online RPer and a wrestling fan, pro wrestling fits well into a play-by-post RP format. Like real pro wrestling, It's all about taking up a role and working with the other person on the board to create a story that pleases the target audience. Doing that involves making your character take hits, go through challenges, and work to earn their happy ending. People who try to make themselves win all the time are justly disliked because there's no story, just ego-stroking. Especially when there's combat.

2002-2007 on and off I was in a South Park Wrestling E-Fed the only time I held a title was with X-Sac in the E-Fed called WSPWF lol WWF of with south park slammed into it. I made some friends learned how to use the computer more and it help my reading and writing if not for that I might of been a complete dumbass. Nice post.

I used to do an efed back in the day around the attitude era. I was pretty good. In the efed I did I created my own persona and became champ. The dude that ran the fed had a beautiful site for the time and I’m not gonna lie becoming champ and people enjoying my character was fun. If you don’t like to write it would probably suck

Anyone who really enjoyed this video and thought being in an e-fed sounded kind of fun should check out the Choose Your Own Adventure game, SLAMMED! Pretty sure it was written by an e-fed guy, but one of the good ones. I've played it through several times, it's really well done. Great characters, exhilarating scenarios, and you don't have to know about wrestling to enjoy it. Playing it is what got me into wrestling, which I never ever thought I'd be into before. I've got it on my phone, but I think it's on Steam too. Totally recommend it!

My friend and I ran an e-fed in the late '90s. We used an N64 game to determine winners giving advantage to the better role players.
