Wolves playing with trail cameras in northern Minnesota
Over the past few years, we have had several instances of wolves “playing” with our trail cameras. What is going through their minds is anyone’s guess but nonetheless the footage is amusing!

I have 2 young German Shepherd dogs. They act the same as wolves and wolves act the same as them. This is all playful banter.

do the cameras move or emit a light? or is it because of the smell of the cameras?

If you want your own wolf, you should get a husky (if you're really up to it!)

Is this really a good thing tho?
Isn't it like intruding in their natural habitat?

I knew wolves were just big, most of the time aggresive, puppies

What does the camera look like to make wild wolves want to play with it?

They're cute but they're not playing with the cameras imo. They seem to be investigating what the camera is. Is it a threat? Does it move? Can I eat it? Things any animal would be searching for. They leave the moment they realize it's boring and not threatening and not a source of food.

This makes me think I could safely approach and pet a wolf, because it would recognize that I, too, am a being of goofiness and whimsy

I see why early humans liked wolves so much.
