Wolf pack traveling down wintry creek

Voyageurs Wolf Project | April 28, 2026

Some great looks at the Whiskey Point Pack from December. We put out this camera this fall in a small rocky ravine where a creek flows out of a large beaver pond complex. First time we’ve had a camera here and turned out to be a gem.

In just the month of December, we captured all 4 wolves of the Whiskey Point Pack on 5 separate occasions. And this is just one of the many cameras in the pack’s territory…we have many observations on the other cameras as well.

This approach of putting numerous cameras throughout each of the 23-24 packs in the Greater Voyageurs Ecosystem ensures we not only get great data on how many wolves are in each pack but also pack composition, recruitment, and so forth.

Because we get so much footage, we know what each wolf in each pack looks like, what their social status is, and so forth.

In this instance, the Whiskey Point Pack consists of a breeding pair and two yearling wolves. The pack did have 3 pups alive as of the fall but none of them appear to have survived.

The breeding male has been the breeding male of the pack for several years. The breeding female joined the pack in winter of last year after the previous female disappeared (we suspect she died).

In the first video sequence, the first wolf to exit the frame is the breeding female, the second wolf to exit is the breeding male, and the last two are pups born in Spring 2023 that are now yearlings.

The one yearling is very easy to ID because it is missing the top of its right ear…and has been ever since it was a 7-8 month old pup!

The time has come. Daniel, Wyoming has yet to give justice for Thea the wolf cub who had been brutally tortured by the monster known as Cody Roberts. Who was only given a slap on the wrist for his inhuman crimes. This cannot go on any longer. And since the law is allowing animal abusers to get away with their horrific acts, it is time that animal lovers take matters into our own hands. Turn your backs on Wyoming until they ensure that animal abusers are given proper punishments for their crimes. Demand to government officials that better animal protection laws be placed. Remember Thea and that her life mattered. We mustn’t allow anymore abusers get away with their horrific acts. Make a stand! Take action! Be a Wildlife Warrior!

Wish more people understood/cared this is the area and ecosystem people and Biden aimed to protect from mining aka destruction. Current administration is canceled that protection
