Wolf pack moving through majestic forest after early winter snow

Voyageurs Wolf Project | August 27, 2025



The Shoepack Lake Pack traveling through the majestic forests of Voyageurs after an early winter snow last December. We only observed 7 wolves traveling together in this video but we have other footage of the pack from around the same time showing 9 wolves together.

Regardless, the pack had dwindled to 6 wolves by mid-to late winter, due to either the death or dispersal of pack members.

For those interested: the lead wolf is the breeding male, the 4th wolf is the breeding female (Wolf V036), and taking up the rear are a couple of pups. Some of the other members might also be pups but hard to tell in this video.

    We need wolves. Humans have to stop or there will be nothing left for future generations. They now see what happens when the wolves were exterminated from Yellowstone. There was nothing to keep the deer in check so the eco system was off balanced. Now that the wolves are back other animals came back and everything went back to normal.

    They're so gorgeous when their coats are filled out for winter. I'm so partial to the gray shade. That's what color our Phoebe was, a wolf our family raised from a pup.
