I hate that I actually know someone who accidentally off'd themselves purely for attention. Everyone was so sick with his bs that nobody actually came in time to save him. They all mutually agreed as a friend group not to go to try to prove to him that what he was doing wasn't going to get him attention. If you're going to do it for attention. Make sure your feet still touch the ground and just stay standing until someone gets there. You don't need to actually do it. Messed all of his friends up because he set it up like it was their fault he did it. This I'd an important lesson to people who have BPD or other mental health issues, don't use your potential dearh for attention because people will get to the point they just can't take you seriously anymore for their own mental health. If you are that kind of person, you're an asshat to put people through that instead of getting actually help. Having a personality disorder doesn't make it okay to do. It REALLY messes up everyone involved.
