Will This Victory Transform The South?

More Perfect Union | August 18, 2026

Workers in Georgia won one of the most improbable union victories in a generation. They unionized Blue Bird—the country’s largest electric school bus maker—in the anti-union South. We dug into how they did it, and what it will take to turn their victory into a wave.

Creator bless my black brothers and sisters and their fight for dignity, and bless all the colors of the rainbow who are treated as less-than. Color is the amount of pigment in a person's skin, it matters as much as eye color or taste in food, it's ignorant and ridiculous. All those white managers with the token Asian thrown in for the illusion of diversity ain't foolin' no one. I was totally anti-union in the 60's and 70's as it had gotten out of hand and WAS increasing costs too much, but it is MANDATORY now if the working class are to have even a chance against this corporatocracy that is the US.

Now if we can get school districts to compensate their bus drivers like they used to in the 80's & 90's when my mom drove. They used to pay the bus drivers for the entire day. Not just the time they were driving. Then they paid them for the summer months when school wasn't in. They had vacation time, sick days, & personal days. Then they could sign up to do field trips which would get you basically double pay on you hours between your normal route times. Then you can also sign up to do something similar during the summer. My mom basically got a paid vacation driving a school bus with kids fir a week stay at the lake where Fridy the 13th movie was filmed. Yeah all thats gone now for a very long time. Which puts unskilled drivers that doesn't care for the job transporting our most precious cargo.

Extremely important to understand that the only reason these automobile plants are in the South .. is because Republican legislators sold the South as a NON-UNION. Moving plants south, was 1000% an intentional Union Busting movement. I'm glad y'all are finally fighting for unions. Paying dues is WELL worth the additional pay and benefits.

I’ve never worked in manufacturing. I’ve had jobs from the lowly warehouse to management at an accounting firm. I’m 100% pro union. I hope this growth grows explosively !

😂 Secretly the government, with the cooperation of the Blue bird company has been selling old school buses to Columbia, Panama, Mexico, Argentina, and several other South American countries to make this move possible… Basically subsidizing a new "union" worker pay. The truth is that government vehicles such as school busses and other large vehicles have operated illegally since 2012 on public roads and interstates violating the governments own EPA regulations.
Manufacturing of school busses will go full AI automated in the next 5 years so don't go thinking you will find a "good job"… The government should have been fined 5 trillion dollars in fines for allowing illegal busses on the roads AND if citizens were smart they would take the free 5 trillion…
